Oven and Broiled will not light - GE JGBP30 oven

The oven or the broiler will not light. Is it the ignitor? It looks like the the broiler and oven have separate ignitors. Or could be some other control that is not working.

My GE Spectra XL 44 range has the same problem. Oven nor broiler will not light. Purchased unit 2001, Had to replace bake igniter already once in 2003.Also, range top burners must be lit most of the time with matches. Clicking noise is very faint sometimes and once it is lit it will click normally. Simmer burner is so low it is not worth using. Of course it is out of warranty.Very disappointed and inconvenienced.

I have a GE JGBP30 gas range. The oven is taking

Quiet possibly, but make sure there are leveling legs installed and the front edge of the range is not blocked by any flooring. It may be that the oven is not receiving enough combustion air. (sometimes happens when flooring is replaced and legs are removed so the range is not higher than the countertop, or a layer of flooring is added to the room and buts up against the range, where flooring was not added.)

Oven wont light

Check the amp draw on the ignitor. If 2.9 amps or less, replace the ignitor. If 2.9 amps or more, replace the gas safety valve.

My broiler works - but the oven does not - GE Dual Fuel range

Thanks for providing the full model number, which allows us to look up part numbers and see exploded views of your product.
Most likely the bake ignitor is bad (even if it still glows, it may not draw enough amperage to allow the gas safety valve to open). One way you can test this on your model is to swap out the broil ignitor for the bake ignitor, as they are the same part number on your model. (part number WB13T10045) The broiler is normally used much less than the oven, so the part does not fail very often on the broiler. You will have to take the cover off the floor of the oven, then the flame spreader, to reach the burner area. The ignitor is the rectangular part at the back, on the side of the burner. (only two wires to deal with) (By the way, for future reference, your model number ends is SS, as in stainless steel, not a 55)

The oven won't light, it is a gas oven. The top (broiler) lights but the oven won't light. Thank you.

Chances are the oven ignitor will need to be replaced.  Look and see if it glows.  If it does then it is weak and not opening the gas valve to lite.  Let me know what you find.

Ours is a xl44 spectra oven will not ignite, broiler sometimes.

Don't you regret now to have shoved your old range out the door? Sorry, it just seems that each time we replace something we end up regretting it.

Your problem is appparently not uncommon and while the model numbers differ, I think you will find the solution in the discussion lined below:
