Hi,
If it is very cold out or if the humidity was very low to start with then it will take quite a long time to get the humidity back up. Do you have your thermostat set to run the fan continuously? This will keep the air flowing over the panel and bring the humidity back sooner. If you allow it to just cycle with the heat it will take a very long time to catch up.
Turn the fan switch on your t-stat to "on" and then it will circulate air all the time and help you out faster.

I have an Aprilaire 560. It only runs water when the "heat" is on, not fan only. Can I make it work with just the fan? Thanks.

Stopped humidifying, water remains in the container. everything else seems to operate fine

If you are using the misting type humidifier rather than the wick-type. there could be a blockage in the misting aperture. These units clog easily, and it is best to use distilled water in them since mineral deposits can clog the aperture.

Model RCM-832. On/off switch works, blows air but no moisture seems to come out. I left it on for at least one day and the water level in the tank remained the same.

First check humid-stat setting make sure that the room is not above setting. Second check that float(water level) switch is being made. Hope that helps

Water only runs with humidistat in test/reset mode. Aprilaire 600 with an Aprilaire 56 Automatic Humidistat, both about 5 years old. Water line is clear, and test mode runs fine for the 1 minute interval....

you need to make sure your humidity level in the house isnt higher then what your humidifier will provide at any givin outdoor temp. this chart is in the owners manual. you cant remove the wires going to the ODS or it will give an error unless you have a resistor to put in its place. Anyway if the humidifier works in test mode according to AA it works so you may have higher humidity than you think, the highest your gonna get is 45% as the temp outside drops it will allow less humidity so it doesnt cause window condinsation (property damage) here is a copy of the chart. the #s on the left are the dial setting

Won't humidify past 30% in a 90sf bedroom

The most probable reason that the humidifier does not reach the levels you describe is because you said you had the unit in your bedroom.

Bedrooms typically contain materials that are known as "hygroscopic." What that means in plain English is that items such as the bedding, mattress, any carpeting, wood, curtains, you, etc. all absorb moisture , kinda like a sponge. Since that moisture is being held by these materials, the air itself contains less by percentage. 25-30% humidity is actually pretty good for any room, especially in colder climates and higher humidity levels can lead to the production of mold, condensation on windows, etc., which are not good things. The good news is that reasonable humidity levels are healthier for textiles such as carpeting, cloth, and so on because the fibers won't dry out and crack. Dust is also reduced, but again, only to a certain level.

If your humidifier is reaching 30% it's probably working ok.

Unable to get humidity level above 21% with Aprilaire 700A

Hopefully it was installed properly. It should only allow water to run when the furnaces blower is on. The outdoor probe can only be properly checked with an ohm meter. When you replace the evaporative panel, it is very important to have the dark painted mark on the "top" of the panel when it is installed. They do not give these instructions to a homeowner, only a contractor. So i am betting that your new water panel is installed upside down.
Good luck

Aprilaire 500 - Everything works, but humidity will not increase!

You should take out that aprilaire and throw it in the garbage or return it to who you got it from. Ask them why they didn't offer you the best humidifiers available. The only way to truly control humidity in your home without running your heat is a steam humidifier. Autoflo makes a good one also honeywell makes a new one. I have installed a honeywell tru steam in my own home and a few customers it hasn't lived up to its advertising. The auto flo has never given me any problems with customers.

Lack of humidity

Try the following test, ( I will resume this is a flow through humidifier)

Spray water directly oin the filter make sure it is saturated. Some water should leak from the bottom. After 10 min measure the Humidity to see if this helped. If there is a higher level of humidity the pbm is that not enough water is saturating the filter. Check the level of the filter & water feed nozzle.

Option 2 is to connect the water feed tube to a Hot water source.

Hope this helps.

Temp

My guess is that you are trying to bring the humidity up too high. There is a chart in the manual that suggests where to set the humidity at based on outdoor temps.

I try to keep the level at 30-35% in the winter.

Hope this helps.
