It is 2 1/2 years old and other than the sound, it hasn't caused us any problems. It has continued to get louder and louder and there isn't anything quiet about it (kind of a grinding sound). Is this something that a repairman can fix?

Re: Our Quiet Series 300 Maytag Dishwasher is LOUD
Few things move on these but the jets and the discharge pump. Are there rotating jets that are removable, if so remove them and clean them it might just be dirt. if you cant find the fault then yes! a repair man could sort it out.

Hello jscott, It is typical nowdays for most dishwashers not to drain all water out of the bottom tub (Even where you cant see) due to siphon design and energy efficiency. Try using about a liter of vinegar and throw it on the bottom tub of the dishwasher. Let it run through a full cycle and see how that works. Has worked for me
A water softner will not make the dishes any cleaner, it just makes it so they don't have water spots on them. If the dishes are dirty, it is most likely that the nozzles (holes) in arms may be plugged. Also check to make sure you are getting plenty of water to dishwasher. Make sure all water valves are full turned open.
If the control panel does not work all the time, it is very likely you have either a shorted wire, or a fualty main board which is very common in newer machines.
Maytag Quiet Series 300. The lights flash in sequence starting from the outside traveling
inward. The timer counts backwards from 50 to 1. Then the sequence
starts over. and continues over and over. I'm able to clear it when the
time reaches 1 or 2. It stays off for a while (3-4 hours) then starts
over. I can not clear the countdown until it reaches 1 or 2. After I
clear it the dishwasher will work, but until then, no way. This happens
with the door open or closed.
