That is probably the flyback transformer and may be dangerous to service by yourself. Get a pro to look at it and stay safe. Voltages inside TV sets can exceed 10,000 volts AC.

What type of tv is this? tube or flat panel? If tube, have you recently moved it and shook it up a little?
If panel, are you using an hdmi hookup or just regular cable from a cable box?

Be sure that your hookups are on tightly and that your cables are not tangled as well especially hdmi cable. Let me know if any of this is helpful in solving your issue or if I can be of more assistance. Once you respond I can help more, just need more information..

It seems color wheel problem in your tv that gets problem after some time and you hear high pitch noise along with picture flicker.
Color wheel need to be replaced to solve this issue. Required color wheel is available with PartStore.com (click to view image of part and price info) and it is job of qualified tv repairman because light engine will take apart for that.

The Backlight Inverter is creating the high pitch noise. This can be the result of a poor ground or loose connection. I would not expect anything failed at this point. I just beleive you have some loose connection really.

The noise is coming from the fly-back transformer. By moving the cable connector you move the main board. Unplug the TV and remove the back. The transformer has a red wire going to a rubber cup at the top of the picture tube. Looking at the transformer you will see a dough nut shape with a metal piece going through it .. Drive some tooth picks between the dough nut and the metal core. That should reduce or stop the ringing.

anyone have a proble of the screen just freezing or going dark and making a high(loud) pitch noise?
