Bottom of lamp won't open to replace batteries in GE 17000 lamp. Directions say turn bottom counter clockwise. It does not budge.

Tap the bottom of lamp sharply hard (but not sufficiently hard to break or damage it) to jolt it a bit.
Reattempt to tirn bottom counter clockwise: should turn.

Otherwise, increase the hard jolt tap ( not hard to beak it though) and retry

Last option, try turning clockwise first to see if bottom shifts at all. Then, return to counter clockwise turn

Gem its not a problem with dust if a motor makes noise especially an electric motor the bushings are going bad and needs replace sometime easy job sometime hard. The fan on projection TV sits by the bulb so it shouldn't be hard. The Fan should be easy to find it on the web

Presario 700 has a blank screen. Started occasionally going to a blank screen, now it stay blank. Will replacing the hard drive correct this problem?

If the laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk is spinning and the hard disk LED is flashing then the hard disk is OK.
Then the fault could be a faulty video cable or connector or CCFL lamp or inverter.
Try reseating the video cable/connector that connects to the motherboard first.
If this doesn't work then to determine if you have a LCD screen, inverter or video card problem, read this and follow these instructions.
Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Just replaced lamp on a sony kf-50we610 lamp light still on

Seems like a defective lamp perhaps. Can you check the old one for same test you did? It's hard to test them with a vom or multimeter and get correct results.

I seen this problem with lamps that are not from infocus. I would recommend to replace it with the old lamp fan. if you still have it. I'm not sure why it does this.

Sony kf60xbr800 lamp

Hi steelerector

It is really easy to do , you will normally get a little manual on how to do this with the replacement lamp.

Provided that the lamp is a original Sony lamp.

If not , then just unscrew the lamp door at the bottom , take out the two screws that fastens the lamp to the Projector's inside , replace the lamp and screw it back in and then put back the lamp door.

Then just remember to reset the lamp timer.
