It's a CCD problem which SONY could fix for free till January 31st (in Europe), don't know about the America, but you should contact SONY and ask do they still offer a free imager replacement for this camera as they did all the time as they came factory faulty.

Hope this helps!

As artist, I'm looking for digital cameras that produce distortions on taken pictures, blur or bad colorisation. Is it still the case of that camera? Can I see the latest pictures taken with it? I could buy it, if you want, tell me your price.Thank you in advance [email protected]

Battery exhausted message no battery charged

The manual says:
Confirm all connections.
Off is selected for Charge by computer in the setup menu.
When charging by connecting the camera to a computer, battery charging stops when the camera is turned off.
When charging by connecting the camera to a computer, battery charging stops if the computer is suspended (sleeping), and the camera may turn off.
Depending upon computer specifications, settings, and status, it may be impossible to charge the battery inserted into the camera via computer connection.
So be sure you are charging the correct way. Best way to do is to remove the battery and put it on the charger for a couple of hours. If you have the battery out, you can check all connections of battery and in the camera.
In trouble shooting, more than a full page is dedicated only to the battery and the method of charging. The manual is still online, but should also on the CD you got with the camera.

Pincushion distortion

This can be a characteristic of some wide-angle lenses - have you tried with different lenses, or if the lens is fixed, at a telephoto setting ?

Every time I download my images to my laptop, using the laptops card reader, upon reinserting to camera I get the CHA appearing in the camera lcd topview

Try turning on the write protect before inserting the card into the card reader. This will prevent the computer from writing to the card. When you finish downloading, turn off the write protect, put the card back into the camera, and format it.
The write protect switch is on the edge of the card. The position farther from the contacts write-protects the card.
