Hello, The mouse for my Dell XPS 440 is problematic. The computer boots OK and the mouse's red light stays lit. When I use the mouse to select an icon, the pointer moves, but when selecting the icon with a left click of the mouse, nothing happens. I do a hard reset on the computer and the mouse works properly although upon subsequent reboots, one out of four times the mouse fails with the symptoms described above. Is this a mouse or a system problem? Thank you

Hello,

its not a system problem, but a mouse problem.

The mouse is beginning to develop some faults and in no distance time, the mouse might not function again.

Go to Control panel of your computer and click on the Mouse Icon, check the settings and see if you could do some adjustments to make the mouse function perfectly.

But if the mouse still malfunctions, then I would advice that you get another mouse straight away.

I wish you all the best.

My Dell XPS 400 keyboard and mouse are not working. The F and Enter keys are working. Please help

Try plugging in a different USB keyboard and see if it still does the same thing. If so try running diagnostics on yourcomputer to see if you have a hardware problem. You should have a CD that camewith the computer that has "Diagnostics and Utilities" listed undercontents. Boot form this CD and run the extended diagnostics.
If you don't have the CD you can go to www.support.dell.com and select "Drivers and Downloads". Enterthe "service tag" (serial number) of the computer. You can thendownload "Diagnostics" .
To boot from a CD disk, power on your computer and tap the key tobring you to the "One time boot menu". Insert the CD into the top CD/DVD driveand then select "Boot from CD/DVD" and hit key. Select the"Run the 32 Bit Dell Diagnostics.

If all tests pass then reload OS ( Operating Software ).

CD or DVD does not stay in slot. Computer ejects it without reading.

The Dell™ XPS One™ A2010 system features an enhanced one-time boot menu that is easily accessible by pressing at the Dell™ logo during POST. The options in the boot menu are:
  • SATA:3M-WDC WD2500AAJS-75RYA0
  • CD.DVD:3S-TEAC DVD+/-RW DVW28
  • Network:IBA GE Slot 00C8 v1250
  • Dell Diagnostic Partition
Try to boot from a boot-able CD such as the Dell Resource CD. If it still ejects the CD then your CD/DVD drive needs to be replaced.

Problem with the Dell XPS One All-in-One the DVD/CD drive is making noises like it is trying to eject a disc, but there is not a disc in the slot, it tries to eject every 1.5 seconds

See if you can boot from a CD disk by pressing the key and then selecting boot from DVD/CD drive.
You should have a CD that came with the computer which has "Diagnostics and Utilities" listed
under "Contents".
If the computer boots with the CD and the CD disk is not being accessed and before, you have a
software issue.

My dell xps one will not boot because of a disk read error problem, what can i do?

If you can boot from your Resource CD, then your hard drive is defective or it's OS (Operating System software) is corrupt and needs to reloaded. You should have a CD that came with your computer called "Resource CD" or "System Tools". Under contents of CD look for "Diagnostics". You can boot from this CD by powering on computer and selecting key to reach the Boot Menu. Inset CD and boot from CD/DVD drive.

Dell xps 1530, gets black out

that's an OS problem, or malware. If you're running Windows, try to boot into safe mode (press F8 and choose "safe mode" or F5) and see if you get your desktop back. You can go directly into recovery mode from the F8 boot mode selection menu also.

Will Not boot

If the light is near the psu plug on the motherboard then this is more likely a power supply issue. If your computer is still under warranty Dell should replace it for free. Hope this helps.
