Hi, we have a AEG Lavamat 74630. It didn't empty last time we used it so we checked the drain and took out a small coin. It displayed error E10 or E20 at the time. I've tried to use it again and it is displaying erro E10 a few minutes into the cycle. It hasn;t been sounding too well. We have pulled it forward to check that the hose isn't kinked ( I paid a lot of money to have someone tell me that it was once before). Can anyone help me? Thanks, Claire

    Sometimes
intermittent FALSE errors like this can come up if there are high
resistance (oxidised) contacts between the ribbon cable that goes from
the POWER CARD to the facia panel electronics. To fix that sort of
problem, remove any retianing clips from the end that plugs into the
facia panel, remove and replug the cable end a few times. This gives
the contacts a “wip-clean” action and can remove the oxide. Obviously
if the cable or contacts are badly corroded or burnt, then replace it.
Here are a few more error codes of interest:
    E10 - not filling
    E20 - not draining
    E40 - door open
    EFO - Filter blocked

pages 31-32 for e10 e20 codes. if you are sure you have cleaned the drain out fully and that your water tap is fully on, the next thing i would do is check the level of the machine. If thats still not it let me know and ill try to give you a few different ideas before you pay someone else. Is the machine emptying all the way? Is it emptying slow? anything like this? could be a drainage problem on the outlet of the hose. let me know if this helps.

Also to add to my other suggestion, double check and make sure the drain plug and hose are both resecured correctly and closed all the way, if your drain plug isnt back on all teh way you can get the e20 also.

Hi,

If the fault code E10, E20 or E40 is shown in
the multi-display, you may be able to remedy
the fault yourself
After clearing the fault, press the START/
PAUSE button. If the fault code is displayed
again, contact your local AEG Service Force Centre.

Here is the fault remedy:

The fault code E40 appears. The display MAIN WASH flashes.
Then The door is not correctly closed.
Close the door correctly.
Start the programme again.

Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rate me as fixya..

The trouble with that darn E20-error, is that it might refer to any blockage in the water supply. So cleaning the pump is usually a first, but it might also be a blockage in the soap tray (when available), the tap or the hose attached to the tap. Since it returns every 3 months, it seems most likely that the real cause is somewhere you clean less than the pump.

If you say the pump is humming but not turning I guess that that you have ckecked this by opening the back of the machine. If that' s the case than there is something wrong with the pump. Have you tried to open up the pump and turn it by hand afetr such a trouble?? It can be a bad bearing or a not proper functioning e-motor. Did you check also the outlet of the pump?. Are there no blockages to the sewage canal?.

E10-This code usually means that there is no cold fill. If the cold isolator tap has not been accidentally turned off, then most likely the clamp-on pipe (see previous FAQ) has corroded over time and needs changing to a proper isolator valve TEE. The other possibility is that the cold-fill valve has failed. This is the unit that the cold inlet pipe attaches to at the rear of the machine.

Easy solution, your pump filter is blocked. There is usually a tube behind a panel at the bottom of the machine, undo this and drain into a suitable container, then unscrew the drain plug and clear the blockage (usually fluff or sweetpapers!). This is probably in your handbook under emergency emptying/drain pump clearing. Beware lots of water can come out!!

Have a AEG Lavamat Turbo wash dryer that stalls mid cycle full of water and code 21

E21 means a blockage in the drain pump.
I would check the impeller spins freely. A coin from a pocket can cause that error as it gets stuck in the impeller.

E10 indicates that the water inlet hose is squashed or kinked.

First check the filter for coins or other junks.
Make sure the drain hose isn't blocked, restricted or kinked.

Hope this helps.. Good luck! ;)

HI, The machine displays "EFO"... We put the water out as described on your site but it seems the code "EFO" is still in memory (there is no more water inside, but each time we start a new program, the...

Frigidaire, Zanussi, AEG, & More....

EFO = Filter Blocked (low flow) and it is accessible from the bottom front of the machine.

1. there is a blockage in the filter or drain hose.takes too long to drain out.
2. over dosing of powder or liquid. again can cause an air lock in the pump which slows the drain pump down.

Check the filter and drain hose and test again. this fault will only come up at the end of a cycle.
You do not need to reset the machine to get rid of the fault code as this is automatically deleted.

Run an empty load with no detergent in an attempt to get rid of the code.

My aeg lavamat 16810 washer dryer won't dry. The error message is E10, meaning the water isn't going in. Water is running until the dryer kicks in, then the valve closes and it stops. The heater etc are...

I had the same problem and fixed it by replacing the triple valve. One of the inlets passes water to the condenser and this had failed. You can tell this by opening up the top and when the drier starts you here the drain working and then should hear a gentle hiss as the water is let through. If you don't hear anything then after 10 mins you get the E10 error. It cost me £27 which is cheaper than getting a new machine or a call out charge. If you feel competent then all you need is a philips screwdriver, pliers to get the clips off and a flat head driver to remove the rubber hoses.

E10 PROPLEM AEG

Hi,
Your Machine manual is HERE

E10 is an inlet fault.
Check the water valve is turned on. If you are only getting a dribble of water in, then clean the inline filter at the hose inlet.
If no sound of inlet water - replace inlet valve (available as a spare from online stores)

AEG 16810 UPGRADE WASHER DRYER E10 ERROR

This is worth posting in case anyone else has the problem. The mechanic was stumped and then around 3 days later a Zanussi gave the same problem - steam emitting from the drum. He changed the valve - the entire unit. Problem solved. Zanussi and AEG have identical internals. He changed our valve - problem solved.
