Possibly so.

I'd first check to be sure the grease filter is clean, the duct work is not clogged, and the outside vent is not home to an animal's nest.

How to vent exhaust outside

bea12bfe-3a65-4764-8544-5bc63391c2dc.jpg9dbdeaa6-0b81-4926-ab21-2206dc8f6420.jpg6bfcce66-f35e-4950-b5c4-5ba9eff2c34c.jpgI usually choose an outside wall if possible to vent outside. You can buy a rear vent that is superior to a dryer vent. When this isn't possible you need a rectangular duct going up through your cabinet and up through your ceiling. hopefully you have an attic or you have to switch to a 5 inch tube going sideways (above your cabinets (if there is space) to the outside wall. If it goes into an attic you have to cut through the shingles to a vent made for bathroom and or hood vents. The motor and blower assembly inside your microwave is designed to turn to be front facing, rear facing or vertical facing. Just unscrew or break out the side that you need to vent through.

Need to know if I can convert it to outside vent

This unit has a three way exhaust capability on it. There is a plate on the back that you remove to set the blower housing to back, top or frontal exhaust. You take the plate off and then just lift the blower assy. up and then reset it back into position for the direction that you want. It may be missing the vent louver for outside exhaust if it wasn't left with the unit when it was installed.

The microwave doesn't seem to be bringing the air up into the vent for exhaustion outside. It's brand new.

I presume that you can hear the fan running? If so, most over the cook top microwaves have an option to vent to the outside or simply recycle through the filter and vents above the unit. If you check your manual there should be instructions on how to change this configuration to suit your situation, but it likely needs to be done before you install the microwave.

The above manual shows how to reconfigure the microwave from recirculation (as shipped) to external exhaust setup on pages 4 - 5.

Can this unit indoor vent be changed to vent outside?

Yes. There is an installation manual available for this model listed at managemylife.com. Just type in the model number under the "Manuals" link and the installation manual is available in .pdf (Adobe) format that you can download or print for FREE. Ductwork installation instructions for outside rear exhaust and outside top exhaust are listed. I hope this helps you.

I had the exhaust switched from inside to outside venting, but there is no air intake. What do I need to check?

Check to see if the damper is stuck, either on the exterior vent outside the house or at the microwave. Also, did the blower get turned to point at the desired exaust direction. Unfortunately, both interior possibilities will require removing the microwave.

Have whirlpool gold accuwave micro hood combo model# GH51884XPS5

The inspector is correct, air should be coming through the top louvers, although you sometimes will have a little air coming from the sides and back. Drop the microwave and see which way the blower is rotated, towards the louvers or towards the back or top. Some units also have a panel that blocks the venting from going the wrong way. Oven is installed not outside vented. There is

It could be that the filter elements are clogged and need to be cleaned. Remove then from the underside of the micro hood and clean them using a good quality cleaner, such as Simple Green. Clean and allow to air dry before reinstalling.

While the filter elements are out, you can check for obstructions and run the fan to see if it is better without the filters installed.

If there is no noticeable increase in the air flow, it is possible that the exhaust vent baffle was not installed correctly, when the mircrowave was first installed.

Hope you found this Very Helpful and best regards!

Fan just circulates air instead of exhausting the air outside

The exhaust motor was not installed properly - it has to be turned 90 degrees so that the blower openings face up instead of the front. Whoever installed it didn't read the directions:)
Unfortunately, the unit will have to be taken down from the wall to correct the motor.

No Exterior vent for fumes

Hello kbender,
I am absilutely certain that the reason it vents inside is because it is more difficult to vent it outside.. ( which means it costs the builder more to do that) but to answer your question.. Yes, all spacemaker micros can be vented out the wall but you will have to remove it from where it is mounted and rotate the blower assembly so it vents out the back, place a blank off plate over the open area where it used to vent ( it may be there and needs to be repositioned when you rotate the blower) , then create a vent hole that lines up with the exit point of that micro.. and attach duct work to bring it outside ( depending on your siding , will dictate how that gets mounted externally and you may run into a problem witha stud on the outside wall ( a bearing wall) that wil need to be cut..I've installed many of these to outside vents and it is a lot of work.. so you may want to consider your options. If you hire someone, that's the easiest solution. You may also want to check to make sure your condo committee ( if you have one) will not have a problem with that.. or you may be able to get a group discount if you hire someone to do mulitple units..
Hope that helps..
Regards,
Rick
