The same model ThinkPad can have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless you know exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download all the drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver.

When you download the drivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a record of which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files are located on your hard drive.

Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP or Vista device drivers for your model computer, Use this link: -

You can download the various drivers and then you click on and run the various driver files, they will then unzip and expand into a sub folder on C:\drivers Then install the various drivers from this folder (run the set-up file).

This is only possible is you are using Windows XP.
If your operating system is windows Xp, follow the steps below:

1. Turn on your computer and allow it get to the stage where is will ask for user/log pasword
2. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del your keyboard.
3. A user name and password prompt will pop up.
4. On the user name type in "administrator
5. On the password, type in "administrator"
6. and you windows will open, go to control panel from there to change the password.

That's all. In other words, the user name and password is administrator.

But in the case of windows Vista, you will have to re-run windows operating system, because vista security is very tight and its difficult to break into its password.

You may find it difficult to purchase Windows version up and including XP.
You may need to install more RAM and a a 6 to 10 Gb hard drive.
The smallest hard drive available is approx 100Gb but the BIOS in the Thinkpad won't support a hard drive this large.

Try taking the battery out and just use the AC adaptor.
Does the PC "come on" when you press the power button?
Does it show the animation bar at the bottom of the screen when XP first starts?

Dear that is not bios problem but fist you are format all drive in hdd and after install the windows program and your problem is resolve .................ok

Did you try that DVD on other machine ?? Check on the property that its a DVD/CD drive.Incase more information I'm here to help you.

Tell you what to do.turne of all hardware.turh on main verizon first.let it all boot up about 5min.then add belkin router by power on.let that boot up about 5min to be on the safe side!.then turn on the computers or computer.if you doit in this order every thing should work.best of luck.regards mark

ibm is providing their computer with a relevant bios updtes . bios updte will solve most of this type of problems
