CPU upgrade, Sempron 2800+ to Athlon 64 3700+ mobo settings?
Trying to upgrade from Sempron 2800+ to Athlon 64 3700+. Manual says set jumpers according to manual or silkscreened on momo. I found neither. What to I need to set and where do I set it? Just plugging the CPU in and powering it up didn't work.

No to the cpu you selected. Board would not support that cpu. The RAM you selected would probably work but for how long I couldn't say. With prices pretty low right now it would probably be better to purchase a new motherboard, cpu, & RAM. Hope this helps.
Max speed supported for your mobo is: DDR2-533 You will have to buy (4) 1gb sticks (2gb sticks not supported) To use all four gigs of ram you need a 64 bit os.32 bit only supports 3gb of ram. Hope this helps! Here is the specs :

is this the first time you encounter this problem with the athlon Xp? i have encounter this already with my PC. you should update again the bios of your computer, and load the setting of your bios to the default settings.. try to restart your computer.. and try to contact me as soon if this works for you. thanks!
Need to look at the motherboard specs along with the processor "Socket". It will usually be a 754 or 939 depending on what your motherboard says. I wouldn't try too fast and set yourself up for disappointment. I would upgrade the RAM before the processor.
have you checked your video (built-in or card) or your monitor sir?...does your mobo sir supports 2800 processors?i guess your mobo failed after doing so (upgrading from 1900-2800)...try to check it sir...hope this will help...
Ok so you know the bat is good cause you checked the voltage. You double checked the bios jumper making sure it is not set to clear. Looking in your manual you can go to AMD XP3200+, & you are under that. So either you have a short or your bios needs flashed because it's messed up. Could have went when the cpu died.
