IR2200 as a printer/scanner - wireless network configuration

I have iR2200 as a printer/copier/scanner - used to be hooked into a T-1 server, now trying to configure it in a small home/office network setup. 1 office setup with wireless router through phone company. Office 2 has desktop with cisco linksys wireless adapter to access the network/internet. Office 2 is where the iR2200 is located. Can I do this with a LAN cable? or wirelessly?

You need to hook an ethernet cable into your network. You could get a wireless router to extend another one and connect via ethernet into that if you prefer.

For setting up network settings, do you have the Network Guide?

Go to page 2-11 and follow the instructions there.

You can click the DHCP icon and hopefully you'll get an IP address etc. (you may have to restart using switch on right hand side of copier to turn off, wait a while then turn back on). Once you have an IP address click on the DHCP icon again to make sure it's not filled in with black and save settings.

IP address must be in same range as other devices on your network e.g 192.168.1.x or 192.168.0.x (only specify a number for x between 1 and 254, must not be used by another device). Subnet mask must be same as for other devices. It's probably 255.255.255.0 Canon Network ScanGear 2.21 (don't get the colour version) can be found on the Canon website (google it). Instructions for scanning are in the manual included with the download.

Wireless printer configura

These instructions generally apply to all networkprinters with built-in network cards (print servers) such as HP LaserJetprinters, IBM Infoprint laser printers etc. This example is for a network HP LaserJet printer. To install a HP printer (with built-in Jetdirect printserver) as a network printer you need to do the following -
1. Open the printer's menu and enablethe Network Card - these print servers use a static IP address therefore, configure the IP address of the network card so it matches the IP range of yournetwork. Eg. If your IP's are 192.168.0.*** then set the network card to a highnumber say 100. (This is to prevent a conflict with the router issuing the sameIP address to a computer on your network). Then set the Subnet Mask IP address to 255.255.255.0 If you have a wireless router then check the IPaddress range that the router issues to the computers on your network andconfigure the static IP address in the printer's network configurationaccordingly.
2. Install the HP printer driver onyour computer/s using the LPT printer port.
3. Connect the printer with a LAN cableto the network hub/router.
4. Click on Printers and Faxes - rightclick on the HP printer and click on Properties.
5. Click on Ports and click on AddPort.
6. In available ports - click onStandard TCP/IP Port and then Configure port.
7. Tick the IP box and type in the IPaddress of the HP's printer IP address.
8. Click OK and tick Enablebi-directional support and then OK
9. Remove the printer cable, then do a test print to see if the printerprints correctly.
Install the HP printer driver on every computer on your network and configurethe printer's TCP/IP port as previously detailed.Do a test print page to check the printer.
You can now print from any computer on your network.

How to hook up a wireless printer to a computer

Does the printer also have some "wired" interface (parallel-port, or USB-port)?

If not, then you need to purchase a router with wireless capability:

1. Connect cable-modem (or DSL-modem) to the 'WAN' (or 'IInternet') port on the router.

2. Connect one of the 'LAN' ports on the router to the network-port on your computer.

3. Configure the wireless-adapter inside the router:
* set an SSID -- the "name" of your wireless network
* encryption-level -- use 'WPA' or 'WPA2'
* a password for your network

4. Configure the wireless printer to connect to that SSID, using the password

5. On the computer, click "Add Networked Printer"

6. Print a "test" page: computer -> wired -> router -> wireless -> printer

I need to get a wpa passphrase how do i get 1

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
Things You'll Need: · Wireless print server
· USB printer
· Ethernet cable
· Computer
1. Step 1
Obtain a wireless print server that is compatible with both your wireless network and your printer. While the printer’s documentation may not explicitly say that it is compatible with a print sever, many are compatible, and this can be verified by checking the website of the print server’s manufacturer. If you have a multifunction printer, only the print function will work with most wireless print servers, though a few have recently added support for scanning and the printer’s other functions.
Step 2 Read all of the documentation that came with the wireless print server. The manual will detail the specifics of the installation routine.
Step 3 Connect the printer to the wireless print server via the USB cable. Connect the print server’s Ac adapter and turn the unit on.
Step 4 Connect an Ethernet cable between the wireless print server and your computer. This will be used for the initial setup only.
Step 5 Insert the CD supplied with the print server into your CD-Rom drive. Start the software if it does not start automatically. The application will walk you through the installation process, which includes setting the unit’s IP address, setting an access password, configuring it to connect to the wireless network, installing the drivers that allow the print server to use the printer and installing the print drivers on your computers.
Step 6 Choose how your print server will be addressed. Most units are set up to use dynamic addressing by default, which means that your wireless router will assign an IP address to it. This allows the server to be easily installed on the network, but it also means that the IP address of the printer may change over time. The other option is to assign a static IP address to your print server. This option is more reliable, because the print server will always use the same IP address, making it easier for the computers to find the printer and easier to access the print server’s online configuration application. If your router has the IP address of 192.168.0.1, for instance, set the print server to something like 192.168.0.2 or 192.168.0.3, as long as another device does not use that address.
Step 7
Set a password to be used to access the unit’s online configuration application.
Step 8 Configure the print server to access your wireless network. Give it the same SSID network name as your router and set it to use the same wireless channel. If encryption is used on the router, enable encryption on the print server, and enter the encryption key or password.
Step 9 Follow the instructions given by the print server’s software for installing printer drivers on the unit.
Step 10
Disconnect the Ethernet cable and allow the unit to connect via the wireless network.
Step 11 Install the printing drivers on each computer that will use the printer.
Step 12 Access the print server’s online configuration application to verify all settings by entering the IP address of the unit into a web browser, using the “http://192.168.0.2” format. Enter the administrator name and password.

Is there a way to set up my Lexmark x5650es so i do not have to use a usb cable?

This printer comes with a Inbuilt wireless port and alsoa ethernet port. You can either configure it to be used with your Wireless router and make this a shared device or you can connected it to your router using a ethernet cable and then you can access it over your network. Assuming you have a wireless router and the expertise to configure a wireless printer. If not consult the user manual.

Please rate if helpful.

Can you connect it to your computer by wireless

Sure can. Just buy a wireless print server with USB output. They are made by most big names like: Trendnet, D-Link, Linksys, Netgear, etc. I see them on Ebay for low prices 5-20 dollars.
Just make sure you get a match to the router you have for frequencies. For example: G or N
