Question about Honeywell (F50F1032) Air Purifier

Open Question

Power button is on when fan switches on ..... But

On honeywell f50 furnace air filter. Was told by service guy it wasn't clicking as it should. He pulled the cells and stuck in a big paper air filter! I'd like to get the thing working! So I put the cells back in and press the test button a few times and hear a single click every now and then as I keep pressing test button. When the furnace kicks in the light on the air filter comes on but still hear no arcing ever. Is it faulty or working?

A newly installed system should still be under the contractor's labor warranty. Call them and ask them to come out to check on the unit and explain what you wrote above. This should cost you nothing and is the best way to get to the bottom of the problem.

Yes you can run the furnace with out the electronic air cleaner for awhile.... It you are in a very dusty conditions than I would not run it very long a day or two....because you will not have any protection for dirty getting stuck on the evaporator coil or if you have a 90% gas furnace the secondary heat exchanger...and restricting air flow.... You can put in a 1" pleated air filter the same size as the total of the two cells in place of the cells till you can get the electronic working..... Sounds like either something big is caught across the cell plate or they are still wet and have not dryed out completely. Hope this helps.

Light not on in front of filter . Its a Honeywell Electronic air cleaner and I cant tell if its working because light is off.

Neon light on air cleaner does not come on
1. Make sure the furnace or air conditioner fan is running.
2. Make sure the access door is firmly closed.
3. Make sure the On-Off switch is in the On position.
4. On models without the Solid State Performance Indicator, if the electronic cell(s)
are wet, check again in two to three hours.

I have a F50E electronic filter. The light comes on, but there is no snapping sound when I push the test button. The cells and wires look ok. What could be the problem.

It's possible that the board is at fault. Triple check and make sure all the ionizing wires are in place on both cells and that the thin collector plates are not touching each other. Also, make sure the contact points are clean on both the cells and the cabinet.
The F50 is an obsolete EAC, so parts are becoming difficult to get. If the board is bad, I would recommend unplugging the unit and using a MERV 10 media filter in its place (Honeywell designed that EAC with the same cabinet as the media filter... all they did was add a power pack on top for the EAC. The media filter will slide directly in the cells place.) You will get better filtration with much less maintenance.

F50 air cleaner cells inoperative

Check for any of the metal layers in the cell to be touching or too close together. These units are very expensive to repair and to be honest the best option is to find a disposable box filter that will fill the hole.

Honeywell F 50 F air filter

take out the cells, they weigh about 8 pounds apiece. Make sure you remove both. Put the door back on and turn the fan in the furnace on. IF the light on the power supply comes on, then the power head is most likely good.

Then insert one cell at a time, individually. Push the single cell in all the way to the back, put the door back on, if the light is on, that cell is fine. If the cell does not come on, there is most likely a bent fin on the cell. simply bend the fin so it does not touch the other fins and you should be fine. Repeat this step on the other cell.

Make sure the door to the filter is closed, the power switch is on and the furnace fan is on.

Good luck.

Can't get the Honeywell F300e EAC back together.

there is a plastic cell key that keeps you from putting the cells in backwards. Simply reverse the cells and they should slide in fine.
I/O is the power switch, I think O is off.
