Hello. Begin by replacing the batteries in your remote. If that does not make a difference go to any walmart or radio shack and purchase a universal remote control.

Hi, bought dvd ntsc format from US but can't play at our player. Are you able to assist ? Player type - Philips HTS3011/98

your dvd has regional code..only play dvd from where your purchase it.
you can do some hack.
try this

To convert this player for multi-region playback

This hack should work on all Philips DVD players with any firmware version, and other similar models by manufacturers such as Grundig, Marantz and Yamaha

Please note that if you experience problems with this hack you can obtain firmware version 7.03 and later by visiting the PhilipsSyndicate to obtain files that you can burn to a CD-R and flash your unit to the new version.
1a.

The following uses the machines own remote control:

We have heard reports that hacking some players using the units own remote control incurs a 25 change limit after which it will lock the machine in the last set region

We have heard other reports that hacking some players such as the DVDR-880 using the units own remote control can result in an inoperable unit, we recommend you use the OneForAll remote only and consult our Region Hacks forum for more information

  • Press the Play button on the player
NB: You may need to press this button on the remote control instead
  • Press the 1 button on the remote control
  • Press the 5 button on the remote control
  • Press the 9 button on the remote control

Although the above may appear to work on many units, showing the correct display as indicated in Step 2, the hack may still not work. In which case you WILL need to use Step 1b instead! 1b.

If the above does not work, you will have to send the infra-red code RC6 (aka Codeset 4, Key 235 in nerd-speak) to your player with a OneForAll remote such as the OneForAll 6 (or URC7560) or OneForAll 4 (or URC7740) or OneForAll 4 Digital with the following instructions:

  • Configure your remote using the setup code 0 5 3 9
  • Press the Magic button
  • Enter the code 0 8 5, or if your unit requires a five digit code, enter 0 0 0 8 5
If you own a Palm Pilot, you may also use Pacific Neo-Tek's OmniRemote software to generate the RC6 code using a downloadable .pdb file.
  • Download the .pdb file into your Palm Pilot
  • Press the OmniRemote key marked as 955 Multizone
If you do not own either of the above units, it is possible to construct a cheap DIY solution by following instructions at the following website.

NB: Sending these codes to some players, such as the Philips DVDR-980, requires you to select a DVD player remote on the unit as the default IR device, as opposed to the DVD recorder remote it is factory set to. Please consult your player documentation to find out how to do this.
2. The onscreen display should show 11 spaces like this: '-----------'

NB: The actual display may differ slightly depending on the model of your player, may be shown on the unit itself, or may even not be visible on some models at all.
3. Using the number keys on your DVD player's remote control, enter the code 222 222 005 255. Note that this is 12 digits and the last digit will not show on the on-screen display.

NB: For players such as the Philips DVDR-980, DVDR-985 and DVDR-1000 units, you may need to use the code 121 212 005 255 instead. For players such as the Philips DVDR-880 you may need to use the code 121 212 005 00x instead, where x is the desired region, however this also works on other units including the DVDR-985 for setting a specific region. 4. Press the Play button on your DVD player's remote control 5. The onscreen display should now show the words No Disc 6. Power off your DVD player, wait 10 seconds and then power back on

I lost my remote for Philips DVDR player/recorder DVDR 3505. What remote can I get to replace it that will do all the functions as the original.

I have the same DVD recorder and I have tried many different universal remotes and none have worked. I've found on forums that others have the same issue. Below is a link to purchase the manufacturer's remote for about $20 + shipping.

Dvdr 3455H/97 hard disk unable to reboot

from krystle i am an electronic tec:
what i have found the big difference between the philips dvdr3455h and the dvdr3575h is the
dvdr3455h boot from software on the hard drive and the dvdr3575h boot from an eprom.
the dvdr3455 has both booth software and movie edit software, if the hard drive become
bad in the 3455 or the software become corrupted it wil hang at the philips logo screen.
the dvdr3575h will boot with a bad hard drive or no hard drive at all you will you wont be able to
capture your video to the hard drive.
if the movie edit software become corrupt or damage when you press record button
it will just lock up the recorder.you will need a software reload if the software become corrupt.

if you need a reload on your hard drie email me i will tell you what you need to do my email is [email protected]

Philips dvdr880

The DVDR880 displays "IS TV ON?" when it is in factory mode. You need to switch the TV to the DVDR input, as the on-screen instructions will tell you how to proceed.

Code for remote control of philips DVDR 3360D Hard disk / DVD Recorder

Also need to know what is the make and model of the universal remote you are using. Codes vary from one to the next.

If by chance your remote is Philips, the code for Philips DVDR's is one of the following:
0599, 0699, 1211

I have a Philips URC US2-PH5DSS and I use the code 0599 to control my Philips 3355 DVDR.

Possible codes for Philips DVD Players are: 0441, 0442, 0943, 0177, 0599, 0799, 0699, 0247, 0447, 0598, 1211, 1214. More specifically, codes for Philips DVD Recorders are 0599, 0699, and 1211.

I have the Philips 3355 DVDR, and the code 0599 works on my Philips URC US2-PH5DSS.

You can visit the Philips Universal Remote Control code look-up page to find just about any manufacturer code for a Philips remote. The page is here: http://www.urc.philips.com/. I don't see your remote there, but maybe you can lookup the codes under a similar remote.
