Low oil pressure after engine warms up in 94 blazer with 4.3

Low oil pressure after engine warms up. had the oil pump changed and does the same thing. Reads around 20 when ideling. I've had the vehicle about 3 months and its allways read 40 pounds, even when idleing. engine runs fine. Just started reading 20 the past week. I had a new oil pump put on, cost me 400 dollars since they had to pull the transmission off to get to oil pan. I like my old truck, is it safe to keep driving it.

I have a 99 blazer and ever since I have owned it, it reads lower in pressure when idling, but will go up too 40 while driving. This is normal for the vehicle. If the pressure gets real low, and stays low, it means its time for an oil change.

As long as the pressure goes up when you give it gas, it is fine.

Testimonial: "But why has it started reading low, especialy after the new oil pump was put on. It read a constant 40 even when idling before."

You had the pump changed, so it had to have the oil changed. if it has bad oil, or cruddy oil and pressure will seem higher more often. it is normal for the oil pressure on most vehicles to be lower at idle. as long as it goes up when you give it gas it is fine.

Should have 10 lbs of pressure for every 1000 rpm. was oil pressure sending switch replaced with oil pump? 40 lbs at idle is high for a stock pump, 20-30 at idle, 40-60 running is normal

94 Dodge Dakota 3.9 low oil pressure when idling.

It is possible that the low oil pressure when idling in your 94 Dodge Dakota 3.9 could be caused by either a faulty oil pump or a faulty oil pressure sending unit. It is difficult to accurately diagnose the issue without further information and a proper inspection.

2.8l v6 in a s10 blazer. no head gasket problems thus far. wondering why my oil pressure gauge fluxuates? minor rpm change while oil pres guage does its thing why?

Oil pressure always changes with rpm.
At idle you should have around 10 psi, and it should max out at high rpm around 50 psi or so.
You not only can't have as much pressure at idle, but you don't need it either.

Why is my 94 gmc c1500 low oil pressure.

You may have a bad oil sending unit this is located under the hood near the oil filter two wires are connected to it. i would change this and see if your problem persists, if so you could have an oil pump you wont hear anything until its too late. 20 psi is all you need to keep it alive. good luck
