My screen is dim. What causes this?

I would say either the video cable has disconneted, causeing the led that lights the screen up to not function,, simpley take the bezel around the screen, take the small screws aroud the screen to slightley pull the screen away from the back top to see if the cable is, or has pulled loose...If now the screen is bad..

could be a power saving feature check your manual

there is no actual way to UN dim or darken your screen its a calculator not a phone try cleaning the screen or resting it
other then that give up and stop looking for solutions cause it is a wiast of your time for one calculator

Inverter is inside the LCD Screen. Mostly at the bottom in the middle. To locate the Invertor, you have to take apart the LCD Screen by removing the LCD Frame, removing rubber pads & screws (depending upon the Model of notebook you have). Moreover, the cause of dim/ dark display could be the faulty lamp. So, I recommend that you check both the Inverter and Lamp.
Another likely cause is a bad connection of power from motherboard to the LCD. So first check the connectors/ wires for any damage before proceeding to replace Inverter of lamp.

Make sure you take proper precaution while working inside LCD, as the inverter generates a very high voltage.

Hi, did the phone fall on the flow or hit something? If yes, that might have been the cause of the dim display. Cause the screen has been affected and you will need to replace the screen.

After dim display, if the phone blinks or show some funny moving display, that means is the flex that connects the front screen board to the main board of the phone that is faulty and it will need to be replaced.

Right click the battery icon on the right bottom of the screen in the task bar. The performance profile may be set to energy saver causing monitor to dim to save energy.

When the LCD monitor display is dim or flickers and or has a black screen then the fault is usually a faulty inverter or the CCFL lamp. When you look at the screen at a sharp angle and you see a dim image then it is a backlight problem and it is caused by a faulty inverter or a CCFL lamp.

Try looking for a function key (usually used by holding down the Fn key and then pressing one of the "F" key at the top) the key will be marked with a brightness indicator.

Is your screen only dim when running off the battery is it dim when running when the charger is plugged in as well. If it is only dim when the laptop is running on battery then this may be caused by a setting in Power Options which is located in Control Panel (that is if your running Windows). In Power Options look for settings about running on AC Power and running on Battery power.
