Dyson Brush Bar Always Spins

Got a DC07 and the brushbar will not stop spinning, even when it's upright. It stands upright and clicks into place fine, and there is still plenty of suction through the hose in that position, but the brushbar doesn't stop spinning.

I can't see anything stuck. What's the problem?

Take off the brush cover and check that the suction orifice is clear. Also check the rubber flaps at the bottom of the hose/handle holder is correctly positioned.

Cleaner not picking up

Hi Barbara, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear the brush bar in your machine isn't rotating. Please make sure that the brush control on the cleaner head is set to 'Carpets' rather than 'Hard floors', as the brush bar will not rotate when the machine is set to the Hard floors position.

Please note, the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so make sure it's reclined into the normal vacuuming position before testing it. You might find our online Support guide useful when troubleshooting:

If you're still concerned about your machine after you've given this a try, please get in touch with us directly so our experts can provide some further advice. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

Brush bar doesn't fit back in

Hi Ryan, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC33's brush bar is not engineered to be removed by the user, and we would recommend using scissors to carefully cut away any hair or threads with the brush bar in place. You can remove the soleplate for easier access: http://www.dyson.com/support/dc33/dc33-multifloor/using-my-dyson-list/flo-dc07-gen-how-to-remove-a-blockage/redirect-to-removing-debris-from-the-brushbar-dc33/removing-debris-from-the-brushbar-dc33

For help replacing the brush bar I would encourage you to contact our experts directly - they may be able to talk you through it. You can reach them by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

The spin bar under the vaccum is not spinning anymore.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the problem you're having with your DC07. Please note the brushbar will not rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position, or if you've used the brush control to turn it off.

To check the brush control is set to the correct position, please refer to the user manual supplied with your cleaner. In case you don't have yours to hand, here is an online copy:

DC07 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum: Brushbar will not spin...

Hi there,
There are a couple of reasons that the brush bar will not spin on a Dyson DC07.
1. The carpet / hard floor selector is set to hard floors.
2. There is material wound around the brush to the point that it is jammed.
3. The brush roller bearings are full of dust and **** so they have siezed up.
4. One of your belts has snapped (there are 2)
5. The clutch is faulty.
Now to describe how to check each of these is a full essay so I have made a video instead. I have gone through each of these except maybe point 1 because it is self expainatory.
Have a look at the video and if it is helpful then please leave me a thumbs up, a comment or a testimonial.
If you find out that you need parts have a look at Nelson Vacuums or VacuumSpot.
Hope this is helpful!
Happy Vacuuming :)

Very loud click/catching noise - Dyson DC07Allergy

Take the sole plate off the brush bar (with a coin or a screw driver)compartment and check for blockages near the brush bar and make sure the brush bar spins round freely.
Its sounds like the clutch is slipping (it does this to protect it self from burning out when something is stopping the brush bar from turning)
A quick test is when in upright position turn the brush bar knob to off
(usally in drive postion) then try the user position again - the brush bar should not be turning and they should be no noise

Beater brush won't spin but belt is intact and ok. Brush is clean and spins freely by hand.

For your beater brush to spin, you have to meet two conditions:
1) the vacuum cleaner has to be reclined (put your foot on the front and pull back on the handle).
2) The clutch actuator (the dial where you switch between BEAR FLOORS and CARPETS needs to be set to CARPETS).

If the brushbar/beater bar still doesn't spin after that, call the Dyson helpline, they will assist you. If you are saying that the brushbar isn't spinning because it is not picking up any dirt, you may have a loose internal hose, a blockage in the machine or the bristles on the brushbar are worn. Call the Dyson helpline for assistance.
