I have a Samsung LCD TV, almost 4 years old (Model: LE40R51B) Recently the screen has repeadedly gone completely black, sound still carries on fine, but nothing on the screen at all - totally black. It only comes back on after I turn it off and on again. The picture is fine for a while, but goes blank again. So I switch it off and on again - and so on. I've read on-line that switching it off at the mains for over 4hrs re-sets the software. No joy! Now the regularity of the screen going blank is more and more frequent - every 10 minutes or so I have to switch it off and on again. Warranty is long gone. Any advice? Thanks!

Use a flashlight on the screen when it goes black. If you can see a faint picture then the board that controls the back light has gone bad. If you see no picture then the T-Con board is bad. You can get replacement parts here: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy and fix the TV yourself. It's not that difficult.
is there screen display come if yes then reset your tv from set up menu.If not then you have to update your tv softwear form samsung site by given your tv model no its free to download.
It is either the backlight inverter circuits went out or the power supply for the inverter is bad due to bad caps, you will need to open it up and look inside.
Look through my pictures so you will know what bad caps look like. http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
If you are seeing light then the back light is working. Can you get a menu?Do any of the other video inputs work? If no video but has backlight and no men or any on screen display replace main board.
check if the back lamps are still on when you lose image, all you have to do is get close to the screen and make is totally black and if is not that means you have a back light working, but if the back light is gone you may have a defective panel.
talked to samsung TA about the same problem I had and the recommend to replace the power supply first to confirm a defective panel because a panel is quite expensive
Hi..if your lamp is on but no picture, then your lamp is good. Your problem is the DMD board (digital mirror display board) is bad. This is very common with Samsung DLP.
