SOURCE: how do i configure the switch to allow web access through the serial port

If you can't find the manual on the Dell web site, there is a copy at: http://www.manualowl.com/m/Dell/PowerConnect-3548/Manual/188907

Did you use the command: ip http server ? See page 501 in the manual.

I would not recommend setting up a network switch with password-free access to the internet. You should at the very least limit access to a small subset of IP addresses (e.g. your network group's machines). The best practice is to use ssh communications or https with the web browser, otherwise anyone with a well-placed sniffer can read your clear-text traffic.

Why is my AOL not working. It is taken care of by Time Warner

AOL may be going out of business. Transfer to either Yahoo Mail or if you're a knowledgeable user transfer to Gmail (Google) which is far and away the best email service but has a steep learning curve.

Printers OCR

OCR is a software that reads a scanned image then converts the images text to a text file. It is 2 separate operations 1. the scan which is like any image scan. 2. the read which does the business. Using this type of software can be difficult at times and is a steep learning curve. I would remove the software. Restart the computer Reinstall the software then learn how to use it with perseverance.
