Connecting to wireless

If your laptop connects to wireless networks at home without any problems then there shouldn't be any issue with connecting to other networks when away from home.

In order to connect to a different network you would need to know both the network name (SSID) and the wireless access key (WEP or WPA) unless you are connecting to an 'Open' network.

With many 'Open' networks you would still normally have to open your web browser and visit the network provider website - this should happen automatically when you try to go to your home page. On the network provider page you may have to accept their terms & conditions or you may discover that the network is not free!

Im trying too put the internet on my PSP 3000... but on the psp it said the SSID isnt supported...help plzz

Hi there... There is a point where you enter manually the SSID while trying to connect to your wireless network right? That point is the cue. The SSID you put in your PSP must be THE SAME (ultimately) with the NETWORK NAME, in order to communicate to it directly. Say, if your network is named MYHOME, your SSID in your PSP should also be MYHOME and putting it MY HOME (with space) will result to error. That's apart from the network password (WEP key) that you input in the next field...
Hope this helps...

Im trying to get my wep key to connect to my p3 but the codes on tthe router doesnt work..how do i get my wep key??

To access the configuration utility, open a web-browser such as Internet Explorer and enter the IP address of the router (192.168.2.1).

Enter the password (admin), the default PWD.. Leave the username blank by default.

If you have change the password to the router type it in , if you do not remember it, you will need to reset the router.

Click on the Wireless tab, then security tab under it. There you will see your WEP key.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

Im trying to download games for my psp but i need the wep key

If you are trying to use someone's wireless Internet access point and don't have their password key, whether they're using WEP or WPA security, you will not be able to connect successfully and go online.

The Wep key is bassically the password to get online. To get the wep key follow my instructions

1. Connect your computer to one of the ports at the back of your router with a DSL cable.

2.Open a web browser and type "http://192.168.1.1/" in the address bar. This will bring up your administration page for your router.

3.Log in by leaving the username blank and use "Admin" for the password. These are the username and password you use if you haven't already set something up previously.
4.Click on the "Wireless" tab at the top of the screen, and then on the "wireless security" tab.
5.Look for the WEP key listed. There might be a few of them, usually three. Use the first one listed. It will be a combination of numbers and letters.

Hi um im trying to get a WEP key but i don't

Hello,

Thank you for using Fixya!

A WEP key is a wireless encryption set on a wireless router. You can get this by accessing the router's setup page or if it's not your router, you need to ask the owner what is the router's WEP key.

If you have a router and wanted to know how to get it. Go here this has basic information on how to access different brand of router's setup page.

Hope this is helpful.

Sincerely,

I'm trying to log onto my wireless router with my PSP however i need to find me WEP password how do i do this?

The WEP encryption is configured in the wireless settings of the wireless router. Open a WEB browser and type in the IP configuration address of the wireless router and goto the encryption setting to view the encryption code. Then goto the PSP wireless setting and enter the wireless router's encryption code.

I dont know my wep key for my psp

If you are trying to connect to a wireless network using your PSP, what you need is the WEP for the wireless network.

If you are using a home wireless network you would need to ask the person who set the WEP key.

Or, you could go to the wireless router, and there should be a little reset place to push with a pin. Press it, hold it for twenty seconds or so, and then go onto a computer connected to the wireless router and enter in the MAC address that you should be able to find on the bottom of your router on a little sticker.or if that is not found, you can do a search on your wireless router's MAC address on the internet. Just do a search in Google or Bing or whatever for the wireless router model and look for the router's web address.

Enter that address (which should look like a xxx.xxx.x.x format) into the address bar on the Internet Browser. You will be taken to your router's webpage where you can change that information. You sign on as Admin, usually there is no need for a password after a hardware reset, and you should see a security setting option. Select the WEP or WPA setting and enter in your own key. Write it down, because if you have any other computers or devices connected to the wireless router they will all need to set their internet secuirty protocol to that new key or they will not be able to access the internet.

Go into your PSP Network settings and go through the options, enter in your new key, and bam! Your there. :)

Or you SHOULD be.

If you are in a new area, you will need to know their key or hope you are in a place with unrestricted access. :)

(If you didnt know, If you have a PS3 you can connect to it REMOTELY through your PSP if you register them together, and watch movies downloaded to your PS3, listen to music, look at your pictures, about everything but play games that you have on your PS3. From just about anywhere in the world that you have internet access through your PSP and your PS3 is connected. But that's a different matter! ;) )

T my WEP key is there a way I can find it

Hi!

WEP consists of 10 number and letters and is usually under your Wi-Fi (wireless) router...enter that code into ur PSP and it will grant u access to the internet.

Or type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1(which ever your router has set to access it) into your web browser and your loginour password is usually admin and Password is usually blank (as in don't type anything in it) for your router will pop up from there you can find your wep key or you can turn the wep off so your psp will not need a wep key.

Please rate this solution.

Thanks

2wire 2700hg-b modem

if you have posted the correct model, you cannot connect a modem to this router as it has it's own built in modem, so in effect the routers modem will not configure properly, remove your modem and try again as there is no reason why the key code numbers should not work, unless you have caps lock on when you should'nt or visa versa
