Hi martho68,

You say your HP Laser Jet 1010 USB cable does not connect to your PC? Let's see if you have the right cable. Go to the site below and look at the picture. It is a standard USB cable which fits in the USB slots in PC's.

The flat end is the one which will go into the PC and the other end on the right goes into the back of the printer.

1. Turn on your printer and connect the USB Cable to the PC
2. On your computer go to Setting / Control Panel / System
3. Click on Device Manager
4. If you see any unknown devices or anything with a yellow icon that looks like a warning sign high-light and uninstall.
5. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer
6. Insert the installation CD
7. Run the installation program and follow the instructions.

I have vista home premium pc loaded on a hp pavillion desk top. I have a HP laser jet 1010 and I need a driver. I have tried the HP site and it does not work. can you recommend another driver?

lists the 'HP 1010 FAX' product, but not a "LaserJet" 1010.

If you are getting correct test page without errors, simply unplug your printer's USB Connection from PC. uninstall Printer drivers and software. restart PC.. Re-Install New Copy of Drivers and Software.. THEN PLUG THE PRINTER USB CABLE TO PC.. try printing after proper driver is installed..

Conecting an older HP parallel printer to a new computer
Better if you get USB HP printer to use with it. The only way to use that what you have it to get a printer server that supports parallel cable and connect the print server to your router using Ethernet LAN cable.

Do you have windows xp for os ???? If so deinstall your printer on your computer and disconnect your usb connection.

First install the driver by putting your cd in your computer...Some product will tell you when to connect your usb cable to your computer...if not, make sure your driver is correctly install. After, reboot your PC and plug-in your usb cable and power up your printer....
