Freezer fan starts sounding like its rubbing louder and louder on a french door model 79577312600. if I unplug it clean out the food and use a hair dryer to defrost behind the inner skin at the center vent openings at the rear it will start again and run a few days quitely. sears thinks the part #4681jk1004c a fan assembly will solve the problem. if the fan is icing up from a frost build up how is that the fan?
Re: Freezer fan starts sounding like its rubbing louder...
You are correct. it is not the fan causing your troubles. you have water getting into the fan blade and freezing next to the blade causing the noise. the ice maker is the most common problem. it maybe leaking behind the panels and causing water to form ice then get into the blade and make the noise. shut the i/m off for a few days and see if this stops the noises. if so, then check the fill tube, its a plastic tube from the rear of the unit into the i/m. if it is overflowing and leaking then you might need to adjust the tube so it doesnt leak when filling into the i/m. its somewhat simple but may seem hard. just put some type of a sealant around the tube to prevent water from running out of the tube. if this doesnt fix the problem, then you may have an i/m that needs replaced. but dont do that first. the tube is usually the problem.

* Original question was slow ice making or melted ice;:
* Most common is ice build up in freezer coils. This happens every time the door is opened. Ice builds up on coils but is normally removed during a daily defrost cycle.
* The cycle may be unable to defrost all ice due to bad air circulation. Usually caused by rubbish blocking fan intake (bottom of freezer tray or wall.) Overloading food may cover the intake.
* Remove all food from freezer. Check for fan blockage. There should be a steady flow of cold air. If not then your freezer needs to be defrosted.
* Defrost by moving all frozen food to fridge side or cooler. Unplug fridge and open freezer door (drawer). Allow room air to circulate into the freezer. Use a house fan to blow air into freezer. (DO NOT use Hair dryer! It will damage panels.)
* Check and remove melted ice water. Check inner panels of freezer. Once defrosted the panels will be room temperature to the touch. There should not be any condensation or coldness to the panel. If it's still cold then keep defrosting.
* Once the water stops dripping. then close freezer doors.
* plug in freezer and wait 5 mins. Check freezer if inside is cold and the air is blowing cold. Reload freezer with food, take care not to overload or cover fan intake. Monitor for 2 days.

Sounds like a defective start relay, run capacitor overload and possibly a defective condenser fan may have started the problem. What is the correct model number found around the fresh food section door? Sea Breeze
what kind of fridge is it?send the model number and i can look it up for you, sounds like you have a bad fan motor,is it the evap freezer fan or the condenser fan in the back, when you open the freezer is it louder in there?also is there any frost or like snow on the freezer wall, let me know what you find
Your model will and may take extensive diagnostics. You know there is no simple answer to this question and I will not guess. Do you have the sevice manual availible? I do if you need but from the length of your message it appears to me that you want and will need help. Let me know, Sea Breeze
I have had the same issues. I have owned my LFX25960 for 18 months. All the cooling, noise, and condensation problems are related to 2 fans. One for the freezer/refrigerator compartments and One for the Ice Maker. The fans, apparently, are not sufficient to move enough air through the coils located behind a plastic panel in the freezer compartment. The part numbers for my fans are 1. Ice Maker 4681JB1029E and Refrig/Freezer 4681JK1004E. It is not impossible, but fairly difficult to replace them yourself. You have to remove the large slide out freezer drawer and glides. Then work the back freezer panel loose from the bottom. Be careful not to break it. It is plastic.
Routine maintenance: Pull the refrig out from the wall and blow-out the coils and fan located on the lower right rear. You might find it easier to do this by removing the cover on the lower, back of the refrig.
you might have to call pro service. sounds like you're out of freon. you might try disconnecting the fridge for a couple of days. you'll have to transfer all your food out. you might have big meltdown so have buckets and mops to collect large amounts of water which might be blocking fan for freezer.
if you have a french door (also known as bottom mount, freezer on bottom) and your fridge sections(cold air blows from freezer to refrig) is not cooling try this
1. ensure you hear the fan running, its it not, thats it(most likely fan motor IF fan is running check these things 1. ensure refrig section light shuts off by holding down the switch 2. ensure door shuts 3. clean conderser coils (usually accessed from front through base grille) 4. check for icing in vents, freezer section contain them at top or back, and for a bottom mount the refrig sections vents are under your BIG drawer. if iced try a hair dryer from distance. or empty food into another fridge unplug open doors, and plug back in two days later this should defrost all ice build up
