Question about Lexmark JetPrinter Z55 InkJet

I took apart my Z55 lo clean the rollers, but having difficulty getting the springs on the guide shaft oriented correctly. There is a black shaft just inside the paper opening, the pickup roller is on this shaft along with the paper present sensor. Each of these items has a wire spring on it; they are quite long and have "hooks" on the ends of them. The trouble is, I did not pay enough attention to their orientation when I took it apart, and now cannot remember where they go. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

The broken part is called the bell crank arm part number 56P1228 this is very common. If the printer isn't recognising your tray, remove it and check the little plastic fingers on the left side (half way down the tray) and the metal springs in the printer (left side) which the tray pushes on to.

I was having a similar problem. After finding the service manual (4402_X73.pdf) and taking the thing apart, an ink-covered broken spring fell from the inside. I checked around the 'Maintenance Station' and found the other half still hanging. Apparently -because I haven't got a replacement yet to confirm- the spring goes across the bottom of the 'Maintenance Station' to a lever on the other side. If someone can tell me where to post a picture of the thing, I'll gladly do it.

Laser printers do not use Ink. The problem is most likely a defect on the drum, which in this model printer, is part of the toner cartridge. Replace the black toner cartridge with a known good one and test.

Have you tried a different cartridge? Was there much spilled toner inside the printer? If you go into menus, and then help menu you can print a print defect guide that you can line up on your print and it will tell you exactly which part is causing the issue.

Had the same issue today - you've probably solved by now yourself but adding images for others. Bit fiddly, but got there in the end. Getting the orientation of the housing and the spin click spring is a bit awkward.

My camera eats the tape and says re insert tape

Hi,
This type of problem occurs due to missing pinch roller in tape mechanism. This is black cylindrical part that put the tape with capstan shaft, it has rubber coating on it.
Open tape compartment and check right side guide, you will see bit thick black pinch roller along with right guide, if its not there, find it inside camcorder by taking it apart and install it.

Here's the solution. The spring controls the beater eject button. The spring is mounted on the metal shaft and is oriented so that the straight side of the spring rests along the white plastic part adjacent to the shaft, and the curved side of the spring points outward and downward so that it will rest against the case when the unit is reassembled. See photo.

Replace the tray 2 pickup roller assembly

The tray two pickup roller is a roller in the front of the tray. Remove tray 2 and place it on a level work surface. Locate and open the cover that is
next to the roller in tray 2.
Pinch the blue latch that is on the left side of the roller. Slide the roller off of the shaft.
Then you can slide the new roller back in.
CAUTION When you install this roller, make sure that it locks into place. Verify that the
roller is correctly oriented, and that the round, black spacer next to the roller is correctly
positioned against the locking pin on the shaft.

Unit only works upside down!

ADF not working.

if the black line shows only when you use the ADF, lift the whole document feeder, and look on the very left of the glass (the area onto which the paper is travels from the ADF). Check that the glass is clean in that area.

On the ADF:
Open the small ADF cover on the top right. There you will see rollers and a paper sensor. First make sure the isn't any paper stuck in the rollers. Clean the rollers with a damp cotton pad or cloth a small amount of dish washing detergent. Make sure it is damp. Then check to make sure that the paper sensor lever is working by toggling it. The paper sensor is spring loaded, check that the spring is in place.

Jams coming out of cassette at U-Turn, Black Guide has spring on it

Remove the tray and then remove the screw shown in the picture.

Remove the peice as shown in the photo below to reveal the feed wheel beneath.

Open the top cover and remove the screw just to the left of the white/clear section shown in the photo below.

The smoked plastic peice will unclip from the fron end by grasping the inner most edge and gently rocking up and inward. This will reveal the entire feed wheel.

Clean the entire wheel in the above photo with a damp (Not soaking, just damp) cloth. The wheel will turn making a clicking sound (top inward) allowing you to clean it entirely. Also clean the obligue roller (1st part removed) with a damp cloth and blowing out.

Reassemble as you just took it apart. Pay close attention to the smoked plastic peice that it gets front clipped properly back into place. Don't force it. It will all go back together relatively easy.

That should help eliminate a lot of your jamming issues.

remove the paper tray under the printer and then remove the metal plate they is a rod that guides the paper ensure that the spring for that rod is in place and allign that rode that should get you going. Easy hey .i checked the back of my printer and it took me a day to figure it out, it was only when i took it apart and check every component when i realized the importance or this piece of plastic rod on a spring..
