Forgot my password...cant login..need it immediately and need to keep all my documents

I hope this can help you.last month my sister had the same problem,and then we solved it as follow: There is a way to reset the password and it doesn't involve reformatting and reinstalling Windows.
I had found some useful website for you:

What operating system? Depending on the version of windows you can hold down ctrl+alt then press delete twice. This will bring up a different login box. Here you can type Administrator with no password and possibly get in this way.

If that works go into control panel, users, then change your password for your usual login.

Afterward you'll want to set a password for administrator as you are leaving your laptop vulnerable.

If none of the above work you can take it in and have the password removed from windows. There are a few utilities that boot up from cd that can do this for you but you have to know what you are doing and a repair place should have the utility.

This step I did is with my windows XP Operating System.

1. Restart computer
2. Boot to Safe Mode with Command Prompt by tapping F8 before seeing the Windows Welcome Screen
3. Choose administrator or other user available
4. If you see the black screen just type there "net user" then press enter
5. Look for the user you wanted to reset the password with then type type "net user theuseryoufound *" without quotes then press enter then just continue pressing enter until it stops asking you for inputting a password.
6. Restart your computer and you shouldn't be asked for a password if it still asks a password try not to type something if it didn't work type * inside and login.

Note: This is sometimes cannot be done to computers that has administrator password protected.
