The Epson SX215 that I have will not allow me to use "Cheetah" compatible ink cartridges that do work on another Epson. Please, would anyone let me know how I can use such compatible cartridges.

Here are few simple steps that you can follow if you want to change the ink cartridge in Epson Stylus sx215.
Step 1: Remove the lid of the machine that is located just below the scanner cover. If the carriage doesn't move when you open the lid then close the lid again and press the SCAN button along with the button above it together for a second.
Step 2: After pressing them, the display will show Ink Cartridge Replace. Press the Start button. Open the lid, the carriage will move to the far right section.
Step 3: Lift up on the flat plastic piece at the top, showing the inner compartment. You may then remove the cartridges that needs to be replaced, and insert a new one (be sure to remove all tape/packing materials first).
Step 4: Then close the lids, and the printer should recognize the new ink.
Note you may have to press start again after this process, and the printer may go through several minutes of running internal tests on the new ink before allowing you to resume normal operations.
Contact Epson Printer Support Number if you are still unable to resolve the problem by yourself.

Usually when this happens the printer fails to goes through
the motions of the printing process, kind of stands still with indicator lights
just blinking away. This could be as a result of either of these scenarios.
i. Ink cartridge has developed incompatibility or is incompatible
The Solution is to try an older/another cartridge (doesn’t matter if ink is finished. You must replace cartridge one at a time). If lights stop blinking it confirms that your cartridge has become incompatible or developed incompatibility. Also if your printer is the type that can work with only one cartridge, remove one after the other (closing back the lid/cover) to determine which in the set (black or color) has become incompatible. At the instance the incompatible one is removed and you close the lid, the blinking will stop (for printers that can print with one ink cartridge only). Just replace the incompatible one and start printing again. In most cases the issue is always with one cartridge. But if both are affected, you have to replace both. Because of this type of problem, always keep used cartridges somewhere safe; they come in handy for this type of troubleshooting.
ii. The Cartridge electronic panel is dirty
The electronic panel on the cartridge that makes contact with the cartridge carrier inside the printer is dirty and needs cleaning. This electronic panel is front part of the cartridge with copper “dots”.
The Solution is to try to clean this panel with a piece of folded tissue paper soaked in a bit of methylated spirit. Also try to clean the area in the cartridge carrier/holder that makes contact with the cartridge’s electronic panel (Usually this is more difficult). If you cannot reach it with your fingers, use a stick or something with tissue wrapped around it. Allow to dry well and return the cartridges, close the cover. The blinking should stop if the electronic panel is the issue. Once the blinking stops the printer will print.

SOURCE: How to Change ink cartridge
#1 Wait until you are out of ink. The warning light and ink-low notifications come on well before the ink cartridge is empty, and even if it runs out of ink in the middle of a print, you can replace it then and finish the print with no problem.
#2 Lift the lid of your Epson inkjet printer to expose the ink cartridge replacement button. Make sure you have plenty of light so you can see what you are doing.
#3 Press the ink cartridge replacement button. This will loosen the empty ink cartridges so they can be pulled up and out.
#4 Fill the empty cartridge at an ink-refilling location, or buy a new ink cartridge to replace the empty one.
#5 Insert the new or refilled ink cartridge into the holder with the same orientation as the previous one.
#6 Press the cartridge replacement button to charge the system and close the printer cover. Charging takes about one minute

its because the ink housing will only aline when the ink is empty its not like any other printer that you can line the housing up. Wait until you run out of ink then lift up the lid and the housing will be alined - its stupid system and epson dont tell you this when you buy the produc
