My xbox 360 cdrom won't keep

When my xbox 360 is turned on the disk tray instantly ejects, and when i press the button to put it back in, it returns but within seconds ejects on its own

Turn on your 360 and open the game drive. hold it open and turn of the 360. wait for it to power down completly. then turn the consel back on and it should close on its own now and stay closed as it should

I've had this problem before. I used a slightly unconventional approach.

I took a screwdriver and gently attempted to pry the tray open (after pressing the eject button). More than likely, the tray is just slightly stuck. Be careful not to damage the tray.

There is a chance that a belt may have slipped, or some other internal component is keeping the tray from opening. If all else fails, take the console to your local game shop (BestBuy, GameStop), etc.) and they should be able to assist you.

when the console is off for as long that it is plugged in just press the eject button it will open but the console with turn on because there is no option to open the tray with out the console not turning on

What can i do when the tray of my xbox 360 does not want to open?
This is a common problem for the Xbox 360 and s usually caused by the dvd drive belt becoming old and weak. Try putting the xbox 360 horizontally and when you press the eject button press the drive slot and rub it upwards. This will help the belt to turn the eject mechanism and hopefully should eject for you.

Well you may be having disk tray issues, sure hope so as compared to a burnt out lens module,try ejecting the tray fully and wiping all dust off around the grooves under the tray,one more tip is to keep a disk in the drive at all times, even when you aint playing it, you can also try giving it a gentle tap on the front pat where the disk tray is located any time you eject it or push the tray back in, come to think about it if you are fond of pushing the tray in after inserting a disc, stop cos it weakens the motor that drives the ejecting process, hope this helps...

if you remove the face off the 360, you should see a small hole that u can stick a paper clip in to manually eject the tray

Xbox 360 disk spins while ejecting
i had this same problem, so i figured, "what the hell?" i might as well open the dvd drive up and clean it out. so i looked for how to video for taking apart my 360 and opening the dvd drive on you tube( this voids your warantee of course) and i cleaned all the dust out with compressed air and swabs dipped in alchohol. this worked for me so i hope it works for you.

Not reading disc
Bad Cdrom/dvd
The laser going bad is a pretty common issue with the drives, since it's a Hitachi that spindle motor could be all gunked up with dirt as well and cause that issue also.
if ya have a Hitachi, if it's a Samsung it could just be the laser.
