Check the resistors by the STK ic's, should be 2.2 ohms. Under the heat sink, also check the 1.8 Ohm 1W, fusible resistors found around the area as well.
Good Luck.

the problem is called convergence.this model was made with 2 options for convergence.first go into menu of tv,find convergence.if it has auto convergence activate it,IMPORTANT dont do any thing until its done(it will reach 100%,you can see it on the screen.the 2nd option is manual convergence,in that case you have to adjust the red onto the green then blue onto the green,DO NOT MOVE THE GREEN.both red/blue will move up and down, left and right.

Blue Halo - convergence issue with 43Hx70

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

there is a way of lining the colours up in the service menu. to get into the service menu pres the "mute" button and then hold down the "mute" and "menu" button and the same time. this has to be done quickly. you then navigate to a screen which will have black square's on it. you will see the colurs that need to be lined up. it the colours wont line up. you will have to replace the convergience IC's. hope this helps you

Picture Quality

Sounds like the convergence ICs this is a common problem in all projection tv as the ICs have a lot of work projecting the correct alignment. You will need to replace both ICs at about 10.00 each. Also check the resistors right next to the ICs cause usually 1 or 2 of them will go open when the ICs give out.

Red duplicate image outline of picture.

you have lost red convergence. which ussally means one or both of the convergence amps need to be replace.. but it could be a resistor. does the red cross move up or down or side to side. how about the blue does it move in eather direction. this will let me know if both are bad
