Toshiba DVD-ROM SD 6012

My CD/DVD writer should burn CD's and DVD's. It burns CD's fine but will not burn DVD's. According to Toshiba this is a known problem and they say it can be fixed by downloading a new driver. I did that but the file will not execute. When i try it says "could not be found CD - Drive for this programme".
I also found through another forum that you need to alter the settings for the device to switch from CD to DVD. I did that but there was no effect at all.
Any help welcome.

Im sorry to tell you this my friend.. it seems I catch you a bad time but I suggest that you need to replace it with a new drive since CD/DVD writers has its life span limit.. Be careful in doing burn CD's especially if its in long hours since it tend to damage the lens of your drive because of too much heat that was prolonged in a long run.. If your'e using it as DVD ROM at the same time, I suggest that you must have another drive to minimize damage to your drives..

Be sure you are using dvd-rw not dvd+rw. This drive will not write or read +.

Toshiba SD-R2312 Upgrade to DVD Writer

If your current device is CD-RW/DVD-ROM, then any CD-RW/DVD-RW device that you can purchase will _physically_ replace and will fit into the space occupied by your current device.

Does the toshiba sd 2502 , can it burn cds

It is a DVD ROM drive which stands for DVD Read Only Memory. In other words, this drive is meant to only PLAY DVDs and CDs but NOT save data to them.

To burn CDs you need a CD burner. Burners are of 3 types:

CD writer only burns and reads CDs.

Combo drive reads CDs and DVDs but only burns CDs.

Super drive burns and reads from CDs and DVDs.

As you go higher in functionality, the price also increases. Check your needs before you plan to buy one. Also compare prices of all the drives. Note: burn-able media costs are separate.

Toshiba sd-r2002

I'm very late to your question, but the problem is that this drive doesn't burn DVDs (i.e., it was not designed to do that). It's a CD-RW, DVD-ROM (read only).

Unable to burn dvd using LG DVD ROM

your DVD Rom drive cannot burn DVDs because it is not a DVD burner, DVD Rom drives are different from DVD writers, if you want to burn DVD you must buy a DVD burner/writer.

Toshiba odd dvd sd ,wont rewrite dvds

Are you sure your drive is a dvd writer? And if it is a writer, is it a dvd -r or a dvd +r or a dvd -r/+r? Depending on the way the dvd writes to the disk, you will need to buy specific media for the writer to write to. DVD -R cannot write to DVD +R and vice versa, and even if the drive is a DVD -R/+R, they seldom write to both media with any degree of regularity or of good quality. Most dual dvd writers seem to prefer DVD -R.

Oh yeah, one other thing, if your dvd is a writer, you should check out the drive properties in my computer to verify it is set to record. If you see the recording tab, select it and verify that the box is checked to enable cd recording on this device.

Dvd-rom trouble

Hi, first of all, I'd check if you have the problem with CD/DVDs burned (written on a CD/DVD writer) or you have it also with original CD/DVDs, which would be weird. Depending on your finding to the above point I'd do one thing or another, but to me does not look like a driver problem. I'd check with Toshiba support if there's a new firmware for your drive, this does improve the media the device can read and correct problems like the one you mention. To know the fimware version you're using, open device manager and go find your drive, right click on it and choose details tab. Normally the firmware revision is the number at the end of the instance. Good luck mate !
