Magic Jack will work with fax machines. You may have to experiment by slowing down the fax machines modem transmits speed. This is done in the machines menu.
The Magic Jack manual is quite clear, it can handle faxing.
I had been confused for the past ten months on this issue and just figured it out! Get a distinctive ring from you telephone service. If you have a answering machine, set it to answer on the 4th ring. On the fax, press menue til you get to the BASIC FAX, press OK, scroll the arrow button til you get to the DISTINCTIVE RING, press OK. Call your special fax number assigned from the telephone co, the machine should read DRPD OK, then on the face of the hp640 on the left i believe is a button called Rcv. Mode/Contrast, press that til you get to DRPD Mode, press OK. It should work great!! Hope this helps.
