My Tom Tom one has no sound.
I have checked it is not muted, adjusted the volume, selected other voices and tested these voices. There is audible tick from the speaker when I test the voices Hope you can help
Let the battery get full charge.
Take the SD off.
On the bottom push in the RESET at least 15 SECONDS.
(It will go off, but it is resetting)
After that press the POWER ON for 5 SECONDS
Put in back the SD card.
Done.... easy!!!!!
Plug your TT into computer and open device. Check to see if you have a folder called 'LoquendoTTS' ,if so copy it first to your computer then delete from TT. This folder contains the computer voice for reading out street names, seems to get corupted. This cures all sound problems ive encountered.
A hidden shortcut to the volume bar is available on the main screen of your TomTom. To access the volume bar simply tap in the lower-left corner when in the navigation view:
Tap on the volume button and move it left or right to change the volume.
I too had no sound from my tomtom one xl. I was out of any warranty so i checked for voltage output at speaker terminals with a DVOM. I was getting a signal to the speaker. Mouser electronics at www.mouser.com sells generic speakers. I used #253-2040cp08-ro Kobitone speaker for my oneXL. Replacement speaker works perfectly and spent under $5 dollars. (Note: You must solder the wires to the new speaker, so some mechanical ability is needed.)
Good job Mark! I pushed in slightly on the speaker and selected the volume test. Speech came thru while I did this. Just ordered a replacement from Mouser. Thanks for doing the leg work researching the replacement. I looked at the UK site for a replacement speaker and the price was outrageous.

No sound is a common problem on tomtom ones.
Usually changing the speaker does the trick.
try url below, they have spare speakers for this unit.

I conect my tomtom to my laptop, charge it,
and close it, and then restart it, it recovered!!!
I don't know why, just wanna people try yours.
Send it for repair
My fault developed as intermittent sound before the audio finally died. My solution for my TomTom One may sound crazy but worked a treat.
I removed the defunct speaker which is encased in a plastic surround held in situ by soft rubber mouldings. I then replaced it with the speaker out of a McDonalds toy that comes packed with cheap ‘Chicken Nugget Happy Meals.’
The audio was quieter but very clear, and I think this was down to the fact that the Tom Tom speaker is 4 ohm impedance whereas the toy was 16 ohm impedance. However I resolved that one by inserting another, wired in parallel and it works absolutely great! The dimensions are precise for two to be sat side by side and held in place by the soft rubber mouldings.

I had a similar problem where the drums would play at the beginning but no driving sounds. I finally realized it was the FM Trasmitter. I turned it off and got my sounds back.
Send it for repair!
Suffering from same problem with recently purchased TT. Apparently its ahardware fault and should send TT back for repairs

a microphone with computer
To use any microphone with your
computer you will need to enable it in control panel. The following
instructions are for Windows XP but are broadly similar for Vista
and Win7
Click START, CONTROL PANEL, SOUNDS

Click VOICE
In Sounds & Audio Devices
Properties window locate SOUND PLAYBACK box. Click the VOLUME button. Make sure
that there is not a check-mark in the MUTE box against microphone in the list
of devices and that the volume slider is at the top of the scale.
Make sure the MUTE ALL box isn't
checked before closing the window.
Now click the VOLUME button in the

(as opposed to un-checking mute in the playback controls).
NOTE if your microphone
is not listed in the 2 sets of volume controls click OPTIONS, PROPERTIES
on the tool-bar and place a check against microphone in the list
entitled 'show the following volume controls' and then click OK. Same

I sent of to TomTom they suggested using the reset. It worked.
The sound on my Tom Tom One suddenly stopped working.
I checked the preferences to make sure that it was not muted and then pressed the reset button but this had no effect. I've tried different voices but still no sound.
