Need to know to to put cerpintine belt back on

Not sure with out looking at it, But from what you posted if hard to turn
sounds like your power steering punp aint working , ant if smoking and smells like burnt rubber sounds like pumps locked up, (pully not turning) and if so continuing to drive it could leave you on side of road if it runs a cerpintine belt , that kind of belt runs every thing and if breaks water pump stops flowing water motor will over heat, you should realy have someone look at that for you.

go to a local parts store order a belt for a tempo without air conditioning or bring your old belt and they can cross the numbers over to get you the right lenth belt

Could be your water pump, or your water pump belt..

There should be a routing diagram under the hood. Put a wrench on the tensioner pulley (the one with the spring in/on it) to release the pressure on the belt. Remove the belt. Follow the routing diagram, put the wrench back on the tensioner pulley apply pressure to get the belt back on. (to give you enough room to get the belt back on all of the pulleys)

For the 3.3L:



For the 3.0L:

The serpentine belt can come off if the self adjuster is not working, or has not been adjusted.

I would buy a new belt, free up the adjuster and fit the new belt to the correct tension.

If it slips again, it may be an alignment problem.

the timing chain guides have worn out. the engine will have to be torn apart to replace hem. a 12 hour job.

There is a tensioner, you use a ratchet to overcome the spring and get the belt off.
