Question about U.S. Robotics US Robotics Sportster 56K V.90 External Modem (USR568603)
MY PROGRAM WORKED FINE FOR 10 MONTHS THEN 2 WEEKS AGO I TRIED TO ADD MORE NUMBERS IN A NEW PHONE BOOK AND THE MOMENT I CLICKED ON TH SPACE TO ENTER THE NUMBER, THE WHOLE PROGRAM JUST INSTANTLY CLOSES. i CANNOT CHANGE NUMBERS TO EXISTING RECORDS EITHER.
CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT CAN FIX THIS PROBLEM?
Here is the REAL solution for this problem with Winfax and Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or newer...and there's NO subscription charged for this solution like www.getfaxing.com tries to get you to do...
1. Go to Control Panel, then Regional and Language Options.
2. Click the Languages tab, then press the Details button.
3. Next, click the Advanced tab.
4. Put a check in the box: "Turn off advanced text services"
5. Restart your computer, start Winfax, and VOILA! Enter your numbers.

Here's a really annoying work around.
Export the phonebook data to an ascii file (text) doc. Edit it and import it back into Winfax's phonebook.
From this I conclude that the database is working.
The problem would appear to be with the focus on any number field in any combo box used by Winfax.
For instance number fields in the user setup also close the program as well.
Seems like something easy to fix???????

Thank you Eric the PC Guy. Solution worked. However, no need to reboot your PC. Simply log-off windows and log back on.

Here is the cheapest and easiest way to get around this problem. Instead of editing your contact information all you need to do is delete the old one and create a new one with the desired information.
