Question about Televison & Video
I have a 53 inch sony rear projection t.v. thats about 8 years old. The set turns on, the screen is green, the sound works for a few seconds and then it makes a whinning sound and shuts down. The red light on the front display keeps blinking. Is this set worth fixing and if so what do you think it might cost. Thanks so much for your input. [email protected]
Whining sound most likely is a bad flyback transformer. You are probally looking at a 350-450 bill depending on the repair shop. If your picture was "great" go for it. If the tv has a lot of wear let it go. Nothing the repair shop does to fix your problem will make your picture better than it was before it went out. Somthing to contemplate.
