I have an old Sony CD player (CDP-M47) - its probably about 20 years old (or so). The cd drawer has started sticking but with assistance if I can get a CD in it plays o.k. Is it fixable?

There are opto's around the edge of the carousel so the machine can count it's position, maybe these are at fault

How old is the DVD player? I have a Yamaha 5-disk player and the rubber drive belt that wraps around the drawer motor and connected to the pulley for the drawer was stretched out and useless. Just bought a new one online and voila!

Probably have to get the laser replaced as long as all the mechanics are working to load the disc.

There are a ton of similar units on eBay (Search: sone "cdp CE") for less than it would cost to repair yours.

.and a few with NO REMOTES so they would expect less for them. Your remote would probably work ok on any of them.

You will have to replace all belts, this unit all most 20 years old, probably could use some cleaning and re-greasing too.

they button maybe stuck or the switch that open the cd player sticking try to push button to open then pull on drawer not to hard u brack then see if u can clean swith

My guess is yes. The easiest way to find out, is to take a burnt CD, and stick it in there. If it doesn't come up reading error, or doesn't remain silent, then it plays them. Let me know what happens.
