Question about Acer AL1716 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Moved my al1716 to my computer in the bedroom. Nothin' !

I bought a new monitor for the computer in the livingroom (which is on cox cable and on xp). I moved my al1716 to the computer in the bedroom which in not on-line and in running on windows 98. All I get is a scrren that has the big ACER sign... then a moving panel saying " input not support" . I've never had a computer not recognize new hardware. Is it because that computer's not on-line? can I just plug it in to the cox modem for a few minutes and that will do it? Is there a place where I can go to and get the drivers with my livingroom computer, put them on floopy and load them to the bedroom computer? or a place I can contact with the serial number or something? I must've gotten drivers when I got the darn thing 1 year and a half ago, but they are buried somewhere in the piles of ... well... it could take forever. Is it a compatability issue? Ahook-up issue? A "I'm missing something obvious" issue? Any help would be appreciated.

What this monitor is trying to tell you is that your resolution is set to a higher degree than this monitor can support. Turn your computer off, restart then go to safe mode by tapping the F8 key or by holding down the left shift key while it is booting. Once in safe mode set your display resolution in desktop display properties dialog box to some thing easy like 800x600 16 bit color and reboot your pc. This should get you back to normal operating system where from there you can then try to find the highest support resolution for this monitor.

I used to use viewsonic 17inch monitor and the color was perfect. Recently i change to acer AL1716, but there is no red color. How to fix the color setting problem? thanks

Generally, this is due to a loose or bad cable. Unplug, and replug your video cable one both sides. If that doesn't work, then use a different cable. If that doesn't work, contact Acer to see about a warranty replacement.

I unplugged my computer from the livingroom and moved it to one of the kids bedrooms. After I plugged it back in, the tower doesn't power up. I've switched the power cords with the ones from the monitor...

Look on the back of the tower, up top on the power supply and there may be a reset button or a red switch. Switch it off for a few seconds and them back on. That might work.

Hi, My Acer AL1716 monitor has stopped working and the light on it just keeps flashing. I have put a new power cable on it but still the same problem. I have plugged it into another PC and it still is not...

More likely to have capacitors failure in the power supply section, that will be the first place to check, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps:
Post back what you see inside when you open it up so we can guide you further.

Al1716 monitor plugged unable to change resolution.

You need to set the PC resolution to the native resolution of this ACER monitor, which is 1280x1024 @ 60Hz.

I lost the volune to my tv. i have no sound. i moved to one room to the livingroom and i lost the sound

Are you using a cable box/satellite box/home stereo system/etc? If so you most likely have the cables connected incorrectly. How do you have the cables set up?

My AL1716 doesn not work in DOS

The screen probably does work in DOS but the laptop doesn't bother sending it any signal in DOS, it's only when windows starts that windows takes control of the displays and shoots out a signal to the external monitor

I don't know how you would get round this because you can't see your BIOS which you need to go in to and set the primary monitor to external.
