Drum won't spin freely

At the start of the last rince cycle the washer started to make a grinding sound. Turned off the washer, tried it again and same sound. Emptied the sopping clothes, with the power off and nothing in it will not spin freely. The sound that it is making is similar to when you were a kid and had a baseball card in your spokes. This sound is what appears to come from the rear of the drum at about 10:00 and about 6 inches of a revolution. Thinking of going in...

Ran the flat of my hand over the hole and there is nothing sticking through. Going to have a look see inside. Our previous problem was the load sensor.

Are you sure that there is nothing sticking through the holes in the drum like a nail etc or a screw from trouser pockets, it could be that the heating element has come loose and is scraping against the drum or that the bearings have gone.

When it gets to the spin cycle it amps out and pops the breaker

Sounds like u need to change belt. Also check to see if the drum spins freely. If resistance on drum see why.

Kenmore 90 plus series washer won't spin, barely agitates, will drain - but makes loud noise

It sounds like the transmission is done. Can't pinpoint what it is exactly, but I would start there.

The rear tub bearing is going out, and the cost starts normally about the 450 and up range,

Washer won't shift into spin

with a lot of the machines now they wont go into spin mode if the drum is not balanced properly, like say you had a load of towels in their, well it wont spin as its to unstable to spin without wobbling around so it simply stops at the spin cycle and does nothing, you can try this by turning it on with no clothes in and see if it will go into the spin cycle with no clothes in, if it does then chances are its not weighing the clothes properly and would end up costing a fortune to put right as it sounds like you spent a lot of money on parts all ready, so give i a try with no clothes in and see if it will spin, have you tried turning the drum by hand when its switched off to check for any grinding noises or jerking when you try to turn it by hand, im not sure how the balance sensor works or even where it is as its a new feature in the last few years but people are now starting to have problems with this feature and it stops the machine from spinning leaving the clothes soaking yet, so give it a try empty and see what happens

Bosch classixx 1000 washing machine - stops on spin

Washing machine stops at the spin cycle - light flashes. Have to drain water out manually. Happened last week and was then able to run an empty rinse cycle. Machine worked normally for another week. Same problem today but have had to drain water manually from the drum after trying an empty 90 wash and rinse cycle (both stopped on the Spin and flashed). Any ideas? Thanks. x
