Anybody trying to use the DECserver as a teminal needs to remember that the async interface is a 423 DECstd configuration. That said, on the receive side, either at the DTE equipment on someplace, pin 1 has to be configured to GND (pin-3 of a 9-pin D connector), or purchase the H8585-AAG adapter. This adapter is built for RS-232 compatability.

The DECserver 732 is a high-density, high-performance asynchronous device and remote access server that provides 32 MJ8 (RJ45) serial ports. The DECserver 732's serial ports support either of two sets of software-selectable four-signal modem control signals. The DECserver 732 has AUI and 10BaseT Ethernet connectors. The DECserver 700-16 supports up to eight sessions per port and speeds up to 115.2 Kb/s per port. The DECserver 732 has an external FLASH socket for the customer-installable flashcard. When installed, the flashcard allows self-booting operation. The DECserver 732 runs DECserver Network Access Software (DNAS), which delivers multi-protocol support for TCP/IP, IPX, and AppleTalk networks. DECserver 700 units are designed for tabletop or rackmount configuration

Unable to access email account on acer net book . i have a laptop running blueyonder broadband, when i try to connect my netbook to my outlook express email account i get unable to access the mail server.

This sounds like your user account settings are not correct and need to be input via the account management section to look like the following:

  • Customer Email format - [email protected]
  • Outgoing Mail Server -
  • Outgoing server type - SMTP
  • Incoming mail server -
  • Incoming server type - POP3
  • Password - for example, Rich4rd1

  • Thanks

Dhcp in server 2003 in domain not working

Windows 2003 server supports DHCP. If you don't see in Administrative tool DHCP maybe the DHCP role is not enabled. You can add this role in "Manage your server". You don't need to reinstall win 2003 server.
Another way to access DHCP management tool is: in command prompt type mmc and then File> "Add remove snap-in" then "Add" and select DHCP.

    Access files

Sharing is not enough on windows server 2003. You will need to give privilages to the Everyone user on that folder and enable the Guest user from the Computer Management/Users and Groups panel.

You can also create a new user from there. Give it security and sharing privilages on that folder. And login with it from the other computer.

OOBM what does it stands for?

Out-of-band Management. This refers to using a network or other management connection to the router that is not part of the normal data flow in and out of the router. For example, if you connect a dial-in modem to the router's console port and manage it through a phone line...this is considered out-of-band-management because you're not using normal communications bandwidth.
