If the silver rating label is still on the safety brake lever, it should be on there. If not, look at teh housing to the left of the exhaust by the 'teeth' on the body, or on the housing below the exhaust. It is normally stamped into the plastic.

After you let off of the throttle it dies instantly or just kind of quits slowly ?
It could be :
- 1 ) Your clutch is hanging up and not allowing the engine to idle while the chain is not moving.
- 2 ) You need to set the idle higher. You will need to remove the air cleaner, and find the small idle adjustment screw, and turn the screw clockwise, until it idles.

What other chain can i use on a stihl 025

You need to know three things about your saw as to what chain will interchange....1. Pitch of the chain. 2. Guage of the guide bar. 3. Number of chain links.

Your little 025 Stihl wil probably have an .050 guage and a .325 pitch. The standard guages for small saws are .043, .050 with .058 and .063 being reserved typically for the larger displacement saws.

The pitch is the length of three links, divided by two and the number of links is kinda self-explanatory. (The 025 USUALLY is set up for the .325 pitch.)

Any chain that matches the three measurements for your respective saw should interchange. Hope this helped instead of adding to the confustion......

Look on the body of the saw. There should be a tag that shows model serial and sometimes family numbers.

Stihl Chain Saw serial number 110764141, what model is this?

Tnx for replying it looks to be either a 042 or 048 series.

The main difference to the cylinder size. The 042 use a 49mm and the 048 use a 52mm. Most of the parts are still available through your local Stihl. There is no online sources except for a few aftermarket as does not allow dealers to sell parts online.

If you work with your local Stihl they should work it down even further for you.
