Mitsubishi VS-50707 While watching last night the tv made an arcing noise and shut down. When I try to turn it on now I get the same arcing noise and it shuts down immediatley. I pushed the menu and input buttons for diagnostics and I get 2 blinks a pause and it blinks this for a total of 10 times for a total of 20 blinks. I took off the back cover and observed as my wife pushed the on button and the arcing is occuring at one of the projector lenses. I have a meter and am knowledgable enough to propably get into trouble, but always want to have some info before calling in a service man. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am going to purchase a repair manual, which will hopefully help me to complete the diagnosis and repair. thanks for your input

slinteriors, FYI I disconnected the heavy Red wire (similar in size to a spark plug wire) that runs to the Blue crt that was the one that the arc occurs at. The Tv now works but of course there is no blues. what this tells me is that either the blue crt is shorted out as you suggested or the circut board needs resoldered. I couldn't identify any leakage coming from any of the crts. My next step will be to check the circuit board and also wait for the repair manual to arrive. I will keep you updated. thanks again.

My VS-50707 is making a very loud noise like a freight train and has wide lines running through it.

Are repair manuals available from Mitsubishi? I can't fine mine.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Check the CRT socket of the tube that is arching. Could be a solder connection or shorted CRT. If you need further assistance let me know.

you also may want to verify that the tube isn't leaking coolant that can also run down the tube causing arcing when it reaches the crt.

Mitsubishi vs-55707 or vs-50707????? bouncing horizontal lines weird color

If the picture looks like a 3D then you have a convergence failure.
I would suggest to visually inspect the STK Ics for dry or crystallized solder joints.

Mitsubishi VS-50707 shuts down sporadically

you can do a self-diagnosis test by pressing the menu and input/device button on set for 5 sec and see what error code it gives you. Count the blinks followed by a short pause then more blinks. This is the error code.

Mitsubishi big screen TV

Sounds like something in the deflection or audio circuits. Wish I could help more. I will post a link where you can get the service manual.

VS 50707 turns on, then off immediately

on the signal board replace the caps by the 5/9 volt regulators. c2p04 is the main culprit. 6 caps in total can be changed. I believe c2p05 also.
