Setting and Calibrating Your Altitude
1. Press MODE until CAL is shown.
2. Hold SET to begin the calibration.
3. Press START/SPLIT (+) until HOME ALTI is displayed (or choose WEATHER when calibrating weather).
4. Press MODE (NEXT) to begin the setting process.
5. Press START/SPLIT (+) or STOP/RESET (-) to increase or decrease setting values.
6. Set the value to your current elevation.
7. Press MODE (NEXT) to advance to the next setting option.
8. Press SET (DONE) to finish.
9. To complete calibration for the REFRENCE HOME altitude (or WEATHER setting), press and hold STOP/RESET until watch beeps.

Repeat this procedure for WEATHER, making sure to choose the proper weather condition on the WS4 that matches your current weather.

Once these two variables are calibrated, your WS4 will be ready to go, providing you with accurate altitude, pressure, and weather forecast information at your fingertips. Enjoy.

Thank you for posting this. I kept calibrating the watch (and perhaps it's my aging eyesight) but I never did step #9, so the altitude was correct when looking at the HOME ALTI but, in fact, it wasn't hard set. Now I'm not -226 feet. lol.

The compass on myTimex WS4 fails to calibrate. Have tried removing the battery and resetting everything but still no joy. Is the any other way to calculate the compass?

There is a process to make an all reset. After the reset try again. The user user manual can be downloaded from Timex. Make very sure the watch is absolutely flat and far from metal objects. Even being near most furniture can effect the reading because they can have metal springs. Many homes have a lot of metal in their construction. It's best to calibrate the compass out doors away from power wires or cars or anything metal. On the street you can have metal under the pavement.

If this does not work call Timex. There have been instances where the compass module or sensor had to be changed. I have the same watch. It's a very good one.

The altimeter on my Timex Helix reads LO and can't be changed. I changed the battery -- anything else I can try?

Timex Helix ABT.
This watch calculates altitude by measuring air pressure and relating that value to the international standard atmosphere. 1013.25 mb = 0 metres.
The Timex ABT does not display negative altitude values. So if the measured air pressure is greater than 1013.25 mb and the altimeter is reset (select altimeter, pull out the crown 1 click and press and hold the lower left button) the watch will display LO. You can experiment with this. Wait till the barometer reads 1013 or 1012 and reset the altimeter. The watch will display zero or maybe 5 metres. Or wait till the pressure goes up to, say, 1022 and reset the altimeter. The watch will read LO again. If this happens alot, you probably live fairly close to sea level. What you can do to trick the watch is use a vacuum cleaner to raise the perceived altitude of the watch then calibrate the altimeter (pull out and rotate the crown) and change the altimeter reading to, say, 200 metres. It wont read LO then. Keep an eye on it and the atmospheric pressure. If the pressure starts to rise then adjust the altimeter accordingly. Remember this watch is designed to measure proper altitudes where the air pressure isnt likely to be as high as 1013.25. If you are mooching around near sea level the naturally changing air pressure will often make the watch read LO.
If you live up in Montana at 1500 metres (ISA standard pressure about 840 mb) all the time then the watch will always read a positive value and you can calibrate it from reference to a map or road sign etc. The atmospheric pressure will unlikely reach as high as 1013 up there and the watch wont read LO.

Is there a reset button on my timex ws4

Yea, but it isn't a button. This is probably two 'pads' on the circuit board within the movement of your watch that need to be 'shorted' together with metal tweezers. Consider a watchmaker.

Thank you for contacting FixYa.
Im sorry, but you will have to send into Timex to get this repair. This is not a repair that a novice can do,
I did find you a link to a repair site in UK. How does the altimeter function work? we can't find it on the enclosed instructions

Altimeters on watches are usually based on barometric pressure, since the pressure changes all the time you generally need to adjust the altimeter to a known altitude. You can look on USGS website to find the altitude of your area, or simply type in "altitude of city, state" in a search engine.
I hope I understood your question; if not, please reply.

I recently had my battery changed on a timex expedition adventure tech altimeter watch, now the chime doesn't work and the alarm doesn't beep. Please help. Thank you.

You can attempt to have the circuit board reset if it has an "AC". This may or may not fix the problem. Usually when a sound board goes out you have to replace the whole circuit board or movement.

Meteo

1. How do you know the meteo is wrong? Are you comparing against a known good measurement device?

2. The altimeter requires adjustment every few days or whenever there's a weather change. Select the altimeter, hold the upper or lower button until you have the correct altimeter reading for where you are and it will hold for a few days.

For example, I know my home is at 100m elevation (I checked on a topo map) so I reset it to 100m when I leave the house in the morning. It varies (in my case) by over 100m in either direction, depending on the weather.
