MultiSync E700 Monitor Issue

I have an old Sony computer I used with a MultiSync E700 computer that runs on Windows 98. I set it up about three months ago to teach someone computers. Initially, I had a problem getting the monitor to work and then all of a sudden it worked. I think it had something to do with the order in which I switched things on but I can't really remember.

Well, I haven't used it in a month or so and I am trying to use it now. I can't get the monitor to come on. The power is on it, the green light comes on but it turns orange and then a dull orange. What is wrong?

NEC Multisync LCD 2080UX has a strip that appears on screen after 20 mins use.

Might be from overheating, monitors do overheat sometimes. I had the same issue happening to one of my old monitors and it wasn't fixable unfortunately. I had to replace it and get a new one.

You likely need to adjust your Windows OS resolution to match the native one of the Multisync monitor (1680x1050 pixels).

You should consider taken it apart to see if caps are blown on power supply before you acquire another monitor . It is a common problem and not that hard to fix if you can use a solder gun . Just look for caps. that have tops that are not flat .

How do you put a monitor into power save?

Depending on your operating system go to Control Panel of Windows and find the Power Options section.
There should be a setting there to change how long to waite before the monitor sleeps.

My monitors light is blinking all the time n no pic Nec Multisync FP1355

there is a setting you can access from the monitor menu button. make sure that the monitor is set for the cable you have running to it.

If you are using DVI use the digital setting.

Anything else, use the analogue.

Monitor keeps stating "monitor going to sleep" now awhile after booting up. The monitor works fine with other computers and the computer in questioning when in safe mode - yet if tried to boot normally,...

This is probably a video setting issue. In Safe Mode, Windows starts with low resolution and color settings, so the monitor can display them. But when it tries to start normally, Windows is using a video setting the monitor can't handle.

Start the computer and press the F8 key three or four times when the manufacturer's logo screen appears. This should get you to the Windows startup menu screen, and you can pick the option of starting in VGA mode. This will start Windows with video settings any monitor can handle.

Once you have Windows up and running, make sure the video card and monitor types are properly set up. It would also be a good idea to download and install the latest drivers for your video card. You can usually find them at the manufacturer's website.

I think this is a non-ddc monitor. But I think you right, the monitor is damaged and won't read it's own driver. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/162737/en-us
