The problem will more likely be bad backlight inverter board, or it is not getting the 24vdc from the power supply. Check out the DC voltage output of the power supply for 5v, 12, and 24v first.

How to connect 520 to a tv

In the Quick Reference Guide ()
ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_latitude_laptop/latitude-d520_setup%20guide_en-us.pdf, at page 12, you can see 2 connectors that can be used to connect your laptop to the TV (4=S-Video TV-out connector and 6=video connector).

Depending of your TV (type and model), you can use one or both of theese connectors. For an analog TV you can use only the S-Video TV-out connector, using a proper cable (S-Video to S-Video or S-Video to SCART). For a digital TV (LCD, LED) you can use also the video connector (D-Sub 15 pin), if your TV is equiped with a similar video connector. If not, you must use a converter, but is more expensive.

In all cases you must use a second cable for the audio signal (see the audio connectors, at page 11).

Dell w3000 has green power on no video just audio only

Firstly i would suggest you to perform Self-Test Feature Check (STFC)
Your LCD TV when used as a computer display through DVI and/or VGA connection provides a self-test feature that allows you to check whether your LCD TV is functioning properly. If your LCD TV and computer are properly connected but the LCD TV screen remains dark, run the LCD TV self-test by performing the following steps:
  1. Turn off both your computer and the LCD TV.
  2. Unplug the video cable from the back of the computer. To ensure proper Self-Test operation, remove both Digital(white connector) and the Analog(blue connector) cables from the back of computer.
  3. Turn on the LCD TV.
  4. The floating 'Dell - self-test Feature Check' dialog box should appear on-screen (against a black background) if the LCD TV cannot sense a video signal and is working correctly. While in self-test mode, the power LED remains green and the self-test pattern will scroll through the screen continually

This box also appears during normal system operation if the video cable becomes disconnected or damaged.
Turn off your LCD TV and reconnect the video cable; then turn on both your computer and the LCD TV.If your LCD TV screen remains blank after you use the previous procedure, check your video controller and computer system; your LCD TV is functioning properly.

OSD Warning Messages
d8bbcd4.gif
A warning message may appear on the screen indicating that the LCD TV is out of sync range.
See Specifications for the Horizontal and Vertical frequency ranges addressable by this LCD TV. Recommended mode is 1280x 768 @ 60Hz.

I have a dell dimension 3000, bought a new HP 2310E monitor with 3 ports. DVI, HDMI & display port. Told to buy a cable with VGA to connect to dell and DVI to connect to HP Monitor display port....

Hi sshorne9780,

I see that you are having a check input error on the Monitor/LCD that your are connecting to your Dell tower, please see steps below.

  • On your HP 2310E make sure that your HP is set to the input/source that you are using and make sure that you only use one type of video cable for the issue.
  • I see that you mentioned that you have a VGA cable and a DVI cable, you can only use one type of cable for a video connection.
  • VGA would be the Blue tipped cable connecting to the tower and going to the LCD monitor.
  • DVI this is a black cable connecting to a white port much bigger than a VGA port and is rectangular in shape unlike the VGA
  • moz-screenshot.pngmvincentc_34.jpg
  • and on your LCD monitor check the input type to see video from the tower.
  • everything seems to be OK you just need to change the input of your LCD monitor for the video to show up on the screen.
  • also if you are using HDMI for the video u will need to change the setting of your Audio and set HDMI as the Default to have Audio come out from the HDMI connection together with video, the HDMI viedo will automatically be detected as long as the LCD monitor's input is set to HDMI.
I hope that this will able to help resolve your concern.

Thank you for choosing Fixya,

Dell Inspiron 9300 VGA output to 46" Sony LCD problems

Assuming that you have Audio already functional, the solution is to set your system to "Clone" rather than "Extend" video. Right click on desktop > properties > settings > click on second monitor > uncheck extend monitor box (below). Click ok, press Fn + F8 to Clone.

Dell W2600

The video drive board may have failed, or the output section of the power supply that drives the video drive board may have failed.

It is also possible and is common on LCD sets, that the backplane lamp supply, and or the backplane lamps have failed.

Turn on the LCD TV set, and shine a flashlight in to the screen at an offset angle. If you can see a bit of the image, you know that everything is working, and it is a backplane illumination problem.

No sound dell 32in tv

These are the answers straight from the dell manual. Ensure that the audio cables are firmly connected to both the audio input connectors on your LCD TV and audio output connectors on your PC or Video player. If on certain TV channels you receive a picture but no sound, this means that you do not have the correct TV system. Modify the SYSTEM setting. Check if TV volume is turn off of muted Connect the audio cable securely Audio cable is connected incorrectly Verify that the audio source is selected correctly in the OSD
