Which Operating System is on the computer? Have you attempted to boot to safe mode (Constantly press F8 during startup)? Have you attempted to launch system-restore then open a DOS screen so you can run fdisk?

NTLDR missing on XP desktop

NTLDR is the boot loader for windows XP. This is the part the kick starts the entire process of XP loading. It is located at C:\NTLDR One of the easier ways to fix this is Either boot in to the recover console from a Windows XP disc, or download Hiren Boot CD, burn it to a disc. Insert the CD into your Dell and reboot the computer. Note you may need to enter BIOS and enable boot to CD/DVD. Once at the Hiren menu, select Boot Mini XP. Once the Mini XP loads you can copy NTLDR loader from the mini xp to your C:\ drive. Then remove the disc and reboot the computer.

NTLDR missing problem

NTLDR is one of the essential files for booting up your system. If this file is corrupt or missing the computer wont simply boot. The solution here is to Get the CD for your operating system. For example Windows XP or Windows 7 etc. If you are using Windows XP, put the CD in the CD ROM and press Del or F2 to get into the BIOS of the computer. Go to the Boot Order or Boot Sequence and select the CD drive to be the first boot device and press F10 to save and exit. This will allow the XP CD to boot. On the first page after loading all the files, press enter, then you will have to press F8 to accept the Microsoft license, then you can select "R" to repair the system (This will only overwrite the contents in the C:\Windows and this will fix up your start up problem. If you are using Windows 7, boot from the CD like in XP then choose to repair your system.

If you receive a STOP message it means that you are still booting from the hard disk.
To enter the BIOS setup press F2 during boot . Once you are in find the Boot order  and put the cd first and the hard disk second.

My Acer aspire 3610 laptop expired yesterday, telling me that the ntldr was missing. Any ideas?

NTLDR is system files it is corrupted in your computer.
SO you have to repair your operating sytem.
If you have recovery disk then boot your computer with that disk then recover your OS.
For that when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios.
Then go to boot option then set first boot device as your cd or dvd rom then save settings and exit.
Then follow the procedure on screen then choose "r" optionj when it find your previous installation of OS.
Let me know if you need more assistanse.
Thanks.

NTLDR missing

I can get into the Boot First Screen but can't seem to change anything within it... These screens seems to be selectively responsive to my key presses.... I can get the bios screen up, boot order screen up but not necessarily do anything within them... e.g. I can't restart the pc using ctrl alt del when the missing NTLDR message appears.... also I have put an XP disc in and it says to press any key to BOOT from CD .... I Do so but obviously it doesn't recognise it so it gives me the missing NTLDR message again! :(
