Self focus my samsung SP43W6HLX rear projection tv self focus does not work now .we tried it manually on the remote with no joy it said check factory data.we have had the tv for 4 years without any problems .have you any idea what the problem is.thankyou

Have you tried rebooting the set? Unplug it for a few minutes, then plug it back in again. This should always be tried on this kind of problem, before invading the set.

As ima_rm2000 noted, the HLN is manual focus. There is a focus ring at the base of the lens assembly. Here is PDF of the focus assembly. You have to remove the back of the set to access this, and tape/tie the lamp door switch closed so the TV will power up so you can focus it.
The auto focus is not actually focusing the tv. When it is running it is adjusting the convergence. Most likely the repairman that replaced your tunerdidn't plug the sensor wires back in. I would call him back out and have him hook it back up.
There should be a convergence menu in the tv. Use the samsung remote and go into the menu and look for convergence.
Plugs on the chassis coming from keyboard and side video input are switched (they have same plug)

I want to get this straight are you saying that you cant align them and this is your focus problem or you have two problems that you cant get the convergence and the focus?

Not at all familiar with your tv but this sort of message comes up if you have altered eeprom settings while in engineers mode.
To put it right you will need the work shop manual to know how to reset the settings.
The auto self focus screws up if the picture does not remain constant or close to it while focusing. It is designed to self focus every fifteen minutes. Go to menu and then setup and turn the auto focus feature off. I have had mine off for the past year and have had no problems. If you slide the bottom portion of the remote down you will see a self focus button. My suggestion is to put a DVD in and hit the pause button during a scene and then hit the self focus button. It should align back up and may take a couple of tries. (If you have an aftermarket remote, just enter the menu and then setup and you can activate the self focus feature, just don't turn it to auto focus!)
