How are you sure the AC adapter is working? Do you have a power tester...if you don't I suggest sticking your tongue into the power tip, if it shocks you, it means it working.
Also try taking the Battery out, sometimes a bad battery will prevent it from powering on.
Lastly check to make sure you didn't break the DC jack tip (the part of the laptop you plug the adapter too) this is probably one of the most commonly broken parts on a laptop.

If you cannot "press DELETE to enter setup", then it's the motherboard, or the battery, or the AC power-supply that has the problem.
Since it's likely that at least one of the battery and the power-supply are working, it's probably the motherboard (or the CPU on the motherboard) that is failing.
Take the computer to a qualified technician.
Replacing the CPU is possible, and is not very expensive.
Replacing the motherboard is possible, but is very expensive
(a few hundred dollars for a replacement motherboard, plus $100 for the technician's time to disassemble/replace/reassemble).
The only "good" news is that your files on your disk-drive probably are intact, and can be read and transferred to a new computer.
Of course, you can try to sell the "dead" computer on eBay, so that somebody else can "frankenstein" your computer with their computer, to combine two dead computers into one working one.
