My iRiver T10 512 MB isn't recognized anymore on my computer. I have owned it for several years now with no problem. But, the other day we connected it to change the songs & my computer won't recognize it.

First make sure you have the right drivers installed, you're hearing the "new device connected" sound when you plug it in, it's listed as recognized under device manager, and the only problem seems to be that iriver music manager isn't recognizing it.
If everything is working except for the music manager, then try holding down the "fast-forward" button at the same time that you connect the cable to the iriver. You probably want to keep iriver music manager loaded, to see if it's recognizing the player while you test this; try attaching/detaching the device several times, while you're holding down fast-forward and while you aren't, to see if that's enough to fix your problem.
I have no idea why it works when it does, it's an ugly kludge, but it seemed to fix the problem for me, and saved me from having to buy an entirely new flash mp3 player to replace this ancient one.
Try plugging in usb with the H10 turned off. Now, press the select button (with the round symbol on it) while turning the H10 on. This starts the player in 'emergency mode' and should be recognized by XP
Sounds like the battery is dead. Rechargeables only last so long. I'd copy all the content off it, before the battery dies totally, which could make it not work even connected to your computer. Looks like you can get a replacement battery: Iriver h340 Google Search
And here's a video on replacing the battery: How to Replace the iRiver H340 Battery
I sometimes have to reset my iRiver in order for my Mac to see it. I have an h10 5gb, to do this, I have to remove the battery then reconnect the battery. Then I connect it the usual way to get into the UMS mode. But I think with yours it has it's own reset button. If it was working and now has stopped, I would think you just need to reset it and try again.
OK, one day i turned on mu iriver and it's say's "system file missing to restore the system files connect to H10 to iriver and i dont know how to connect it.The other proplem when playing the music it's like a scratch CD i dont know how to fix it.
If the computer recognizes the player, then - Try this - connect your mp3 player to computer --> double-click on My Computer --> double-click on the icon of the mp3 player --> double-click on the music folder --> drag and drop the music files to a folder/desktop of your own choosing
If the computer does not reocgnize - the player is toast
You could also do the "emergency connection" trick. First, plug the USB into your computer, hold down the "o" button and push the reset button with something that has a point. The computer will recognize your h10 as a hard drive. The you can sync music to your player or just drag-n-drop it. you'll probably need to use a program like "Easy H10" to update your player's database. It's easy to use and it only takes a couple of minutes to update.
