I have a p touch brother label maker,pt 1880. and i cannot get it to stop printing too much tape at the beginning of the word. the margin setting only changes the end of the word. please help
thank you
Hi, it seem your label maker is set to the last(amount) of labels printed. Go to: Print Labels, click; Number of Labels; clear to set to (1) Label. That should stop the run off of labels. Thanks paul70f9
I have a 1280 P Touch and there is no 'Number of Labels" setting yet I am having the same issue. I get an inch of wasted tape at the beginning even though I am set to Narrow, 0 Tab lenghth I think it is by design so you have to buy more tape.I have a 1280 P Touch and there is no 'Number of Labels" setting yet I am having the same issue. From Brother's website, " There is no way to remove or reduce the 1 in. (25mm) tape lead. There are many models under the P-Touch brand, so generic answers only but in 90% of cases it is an incorrectly seated cartridge..
I found 2 helpful manuals from brother that you may want to checkout. they explain exactly how to install the cartridge: http://www.ptouchdirect.com/ptouch/manual/PT1000.pdf http://www.ptouchdirect.com/ptouch/manual/PT85.pdf
I finally figured this out for myself. It turns out that one of the function settings on your label maker got adjusted accidentally. Go to the "Margin" setting, then make sure there is one hashmark (#) displayed. It appears that one is the right number of hashmarks. When I put in two, the tape was too long, and with none, it cut my label in half. You enter the hashmark by pressing the arrow buttons at the top of the label maker (next to the Function button).
If the end is already messed up you may need a new cartridge, if you can remove the tape and feed the end under the guide on the cartridge and re-install it should work properly again.
I was having the ame issue. Found the solution on the user manual (posted online). Press Function, scroll to "Margin", press "Function", use arrows to select "#" or "##", then press Function again. Now it should print with a margin, thus not cutting off your letters. Mine was set to "-", which is basically no margin.
