Hitachi remote we have our hitachi51uwx20b for a long time and the remote quit,we replaced the batteries ,no results,tried a universal remote , that won't work either,we are not sure if it is a remote issue or if the "eye" that recieves the signal from the remote is bad. can someone help

Set up codes for Hitachi with One for all remote control are: 0145, 1145

You likely don't need a new remote. Certainly not a Universal.

Samsung remotes for LED / LCD TVs are generally RF, not IR.
Most Universal remotes do not generate RF signals, so disregard advice about codes for Universals.

Try this:

First, fresh batteries, and clean battery contacts if needed.

Then, Try Pairing procedure:

1. TV off
2. Bring remote within 3 feet of TV
3. Push Pairing button (Paper Clip or other pointed object in button hole)
4. Turn on TV
5. Should be paired. Try remote channel or other buttons.
6. If not, try 2 more times.
7. If still not working, push RESET button first and repeat Pairing.

Ur universal remote have codes problems,low in batteries or replacement batteries have problems with codes.Re enter the codes again,for ur tv model.

The One-For-All code list gives:
standalone Hitachi VCR: 0000 0042 0041
Hitachi TV/VCR combination unit: 0000

If your device was built within 6 months before the remote was programmed or is newer than the universal remote, the codes may not work. If this remote allows, try scanning through all the codes. However, if it still doesn't work, you need a newer universal remote, a universal remote that can be programmed from a computer or an exact or substitute replacement remote for the device. Search remotes.com for a replacement remote - use the model and not the manufacturer for the best chance of finding the remote.

I'm sure you have tried battery replacement but in truth, the cost of a replacement is too low to make any repair worthwhile. You might remove the batteries overnight to attempt to 'reset' the remote.
I would avoid buying the same one again.

Unfortunately, that's often the case with universal remotes. Sometimes you can get a universal remote to work by trying all the possible codes listed for a brand. Occasionally different codes will work and control different functions. Or you can try another brand of universal replacement.

The only true solution is to purchase a replacement original remote. There are many vendors online selling OEM remotes, but often the prices are ridiculous.

Sad to say, if you can't switch to the A/V inputs from the front panel or from a universal remote, you won't be able to use them. While it's not the best workaround, you can get an RF converter for around $20 (or less) most places, and then you'd be able to use an A/V source on channel 3 or 4.

I have never been a big fan of the universal remotes , but most of the times they do at least turn the tv on . You could possibly have a bad IR as well to . Whats your model # of the tv and what type of universal remote are you trying ?
