You could change brands of "blank" disks, until you find one that it can handle.

Or, you could disassemble the LiteOn device, remove the DVD-writer, connect it to a computer,
verify that it does read/write while connected.

If it is OK, then update the firmware, disconnect it from the computer, and reimplant the DVD-writer, and reassemble.

Your lite on has lost its mind and needs replacement.

Meanwhile a non rewritable disk cannot be erased. If not finalized it may not be read on another machine but the originating machine can read it.

Repair it??? An old 2005 DVD recorder that the replacement parts will run as much as the price of a new DVD recorder?? Not a good idea.

The DVD drives are very unreliable and just get more temperamental with age. I replaced mine with a Lite-On SOHW-1213S. The DVD is too big to fit in the old ones place so it sits on top of the unit with the cable going through the slot, but it works brilliantly.

Not all disks are compatible and you have just found this out for yourself. Stick with what works.

Ensure you finalize the disk you wish to play on the DVD machine. But please be aware the DVD machines generally can be very iffy about burned disks
