On the Weather Maker 8000, the ignition coil does not light up to fire up the gas. Is the problem with the ignition coil or something else? It keeps cycling but not lighting up the gas.

Igniter works but gas wont light

The igniter works but gas won't light because there's no gas being ignited at all. The gas valve solenoid coils are weak or broken preventing the valves to open and allow gas to fire up. Replace both solenoid coils and everything will be fine like new. The coils are located sitting on top of the gas valves and there are two of them. It is a cheap and easy task to replace them. Indicate the exact model number of the dryer should you need further assistance.

Carrier Weather Maker 8000 with 88,000 btu natural gas furnace lights and runs sometimes and other times it will light and then shut-off when the electric pilot turns off? Does this sound like a bad...

Hi, You say that it will light and then shut-off when the ELECTRIC pilot shuts off? If it has an automatic pilot ignition, it wouldn't have a thermocouple? It would have an ignition module with a flame sensor. Could you check this for me and let me know which one you have for sure? I can help you out better if I knew. Thank you and please get back to me.
Sincerely, Shastalaker7
Ps If it is electronic, there will be a flame sensor mounted next to the pilot. It has a ceramic body with a metal rod coming from the end.You can take a piece of steel wool not sand paper and clean the metal rod (sensor). The pilot flame will surround this keeping the burners on.After cleaning it, and if the pilot continues to go out, I would say that you're ignition module has an intermittent internal problem, and needs to be changed.

Glow plug lights but does not fire gas everything

This is most likely faulty gas valve coils. These electrical coils are located just above the gas valves and when energized, these solenoids open the gas valves and permit the burner to light. If faulty, the gas valves cannot open and the burner cannot light. Due to the difficulty in testing these solenoids, it is recommended that both (all) be replaced at once if any are suspected of being faulty. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Maytag Neptune MDG5500AWW Not Heating

The coils are the #1 failure in gas dryers, below is a description of how they work. This excerpt from; www.repairclinic.com.

Gas valve coils Watch the igniter. Does it glow bright orange, then shut off without igniting the gas? (When the gas ignites there's a large blue flame.) If so, there may be defective coils on the gas valve. Mounted on the top of modern gas valves, there are black electrical coils. The coils, when energized, open the gas valve. If one or more of the coils are defective, the valve doesn't open and the gas cannot ignite. Because it's often difficult to properly test the coils, it's usually best to replace both (all) of them at the same time.

Gas not coming on Carrier Weather Maker 8000

either the gas valve is not opening or your not getting gas to the furnace.  also the gas valve won't open unless the draft motor comes on.  if the ignitor is trying to light, but there's no gas, it might be a bad gas valve. i would call your closest NATE certified contractor

b. there is an attempt to start the heating unit (I hear the high pitch noises), then everything stops.
c. there is an attempt to start the heating unit (I hear the high pitch noises), once I see the orange glow from the coil, normally the gas is lit up and the unit starts working.
